Thank you for your help 5hundred... problem is that I struggled a lot to reinstall ATI 8.10 drivers, so now I'm not so inclined in reinstalling 8.12. Every time I install those diabolic drivers it results in many error messages and I must use Driver Cleaner and Ccleaner in order to restarting from scratch. When 8.13 will be released I try again, and eventually I'll try with graphedit.
Cheers

No worries, i do wonder if your difficulty installing the drivers has something to do with it. I've never had to use driver cleaner etc and the new drivers just install fine over the old ones. This might indicate a porblem with the install and then thats why the drivers dont wonrk so well for you, i am of course only guessing about that.

So, after so much time, I return here to post some news.
ATI released 9.1 set of drivers, I tried them and -still!- no joy in playing videos in zoom mode other than original one.
To be sure that no OS problems occurs, I intalled a new fresh Vista SP1 copy in another partition.
So MP too is fresh installed, this time no problem in installing/uninstalling ATI drivers (this means that my old Vista has -indeed- some issues).
But... with "enhanced video rendering" only original mode is displayed, with "vmr9" NO video at all in any zoom mode! :(
So I'm stuck again with 8.10 drivers... I suppose this problem occurs only with 4870 video card, I'll try to borrow another model from a friend in order to make some comparison and find if other ATI models work better.
Dear 5Hunderd, unfortunately I don't know Graphedit at all... and not found hardware acceleration mode switch, too.
I wonder if there are other video renderer modes or other video decoders... how can I install them?
Thank you all for reading this.
Cheers
