I saw in MP that the MPEG2 video decoder for "Movies" really doesn't do a lot, 'cause it seems to look at what's set at the MPEG2 Decoder set at "Television"

Now, I saw that when I use DScaler, the TV-Card shows an almost screen-filling image, there is a tiny black border on the left-had side, but I'm satisfied with it. However this would mean playing MPEG encoded files would be done with DScaler. I have a 1080i .ts stream which will be really jerky with this decoder.

A solution would be to use the PDVD7 MPEG2 decoder which plays all my MPEG encoded video files magnificently, including the 1080i .ts stream.
This decoder however places quite big black borders in the left-hand and right-hand side off my TV. This is not very satisfying.

Is there a way to use DScaler JUST for TV as the configuration would suggest? Or is there a way to get rid of the side borders? Auto-cropper only handles top and bottom...

have you tried ffdshow?
I did, but to be able to use PDVD7 as my default MPEG2 decoder I had to set this codec to "disabled" in FFDShow so all I will get is the same result. I guess I have to settle with small side-borders when watching TV...
