This is primarily an update to fix stuttering/dropped frame problems with H.264 video streams which use mixed field/frame (interlaced/progressive) encoding e.g. UK Freeview HD TV channels. The stuttering occurs at the points when the encoding mode switches, which can be quite frequently (every few seconds). Jira issue - https://issues.team-mediaportal.com/browse/MP1-4226

It also reworks the dropped frame logging to add a registry key which can be used to enable all dropped frames to be logged (currently they are only logged when the render stats are on-screen - see https://issues.team-mediaportal.com/browse/MP1-2444 )

(Plus there are minor modfications to the log file formatting so it is more like the MP log file formatting).

These modifications need testing for both the bug fixes, and to check that the modifications do not cause any regressions - so the more people who test the better :)

The test binaries have been tested on MP 1.5.0, but they should also work on MP 1.4.x and probably on MP 1.3.0 (but no testing has been done on these versions).

Github branch is here - https://github.com/MediaPortal/MediaPortal-1/tree/MP1-EXP_dshowhelper_MP160_Owlsroost

To install the test file, stop MP, go to C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal (or C:\Program Files(x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal), make a backup copy of the original dshowhelper.dll, extract the new version from the zip file and copy it into the folder. Start MP.

Second version - v1.6.88.0 - Fix for high timestamp jitter handling

    Hi Owlsroost,

    Just a question.
AMD ccc driver for Win8.1 includes:
    • 48 Hz Dynamic Refresh rates for Video Playback
    Source
Is there something which can be done or optimized for better MP performance with dynamic refreshrates? I dont know :)

Working well here, Freeview HD seems much more fluid that it was before.

TV is working smooth. But Video playback together with MediaPortal Audiorender is not working well. Up's and Downs.

If you need Log-Files please give me an hint.

Yes please - and a screen capture with the render stats displayed would be good as well.

If possible one set of logs/screen capture with the new dshowhelper and another set with the standard (MP 1.5.0) version would be useful.

Jelmo - does this problem only happen with 24 FPS video (like in your example) which is being run at 25 Hz using MPAR ?
