I have some MKV videos that have DTS audio on them. They play fine in Media Player Classic, but in Media Portal they center channel audio is very low, and barely audible. The other channels sound fine.

I'm using a Dell E1505 laptop as the HTPC doing an audio/stereo cable to a Sony 5.1 Surround Sound stereo.

AC3 videos sound good in Media Portal, just not DTS videos.

I've tried various settings for the Audio Codec from AC3Filter/Cyberlink/Nero/ffdshow but they all seem to give barely hearable audio on the center channel.

I've also tried different options on the 'Audio Renderer' and that doesn't seem to help either

Any thoughts on what to try next would be great appreciated!

I tried to turn on SPDIF then I get no sound at all.

I'm using AC3Filter (which I know works because I can change the sound levels on AC3Config for AC3 movies and there's a difference :)) ...

Why would you want me to enable SPDIF? Because I'm using a 1/8" stereo connection to my stereo.

Here's my cable:

If I was using SPDIF wouldn't I need a TOS or COAX cable? Like described here?

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Thanks for clarifying that. I thought I was going crazy... :)

Well thanks for your help I figured it out! You were right... my Speaker Config wasn't right in the 'Direct Show Filter Control' -> 'PowerDVD 6 Controller Settings'... it was only set for 2 Speaker stereo. Weird I thought I had it right at one time, but it seems to work well now! Also funny how the AC3 filter was being used and seemed to be bypassing this for AC3 source... and even though I have DTS checked in the AC3filter config that's not being used... it's using the 'Audio Renderer' for DTS and the 'Audio Decoder' for AC3.... I don't really understand the difference between Audio Renderer and Audio Decoder but I guess it doesn't matter if it's all working now! :)

Thanks for all your help! I'm really happy I've been able use MediaPortal for a couple of weeks now with no more Windows Media Center! And no more Media Player Classic for the .MKV high def stuff! I love the way MediaPortal works -extremely well- with my MCE remote! And I love now being able to be on Open Source software!

Thanks to the dev team and all the great support around here! :)
