In the search for a DVB-S(2) card i have the following question.

Is it the best to search for a Card with built-in CI-module? Or...
Does someone have experience with a general DVB-S(2) card, a phoenix USB cardreader and PMcam (poorman''s cam)??

Regards,

Gerwin

Hi,
I had both.

- Technisat skystar II with Phoenix and PMCAM
- Technotrend Budget S-1500 and CI addon

TV2= Go for the CI addon, otherwise slow channel changing.
TVE3= Doesn't realy make a difference in channel changing speeds.

Overall advise: Go for the normal option, like addon CI interface, for several reasons:
- Support on this forum
- Reliability of your setup (With PMCAM and other MDAPI plugins, you'll have to restart some services/programs from time to time)

Also with PMCAM, acamd.dll, WinCSC on some channels I had issues with decoding the videostream. (Discovery, ZoneReality, etc)

It's nice to play with it as a hobby, but at a certain moment you'll (or your tv watchin' 'n grumpy family) want to just use it for what it is designed to do.

Good luck,
Sis

Hi,
Can you explain me how to install PMCAM in Mediaportal?

In DVBDream, ProgDVB extracting the ZIP into the plugins-folder does the job. For Mediaportal it seems to be different...

Regards,
Berndyman.
