Why does the TVS3 not use the EPG scan when a transponder is selected and a chanel is viewed instead of scaning if the card is in the standby?

i mean, people is viewing tv like Sat1 (Germany) on the same time TVS3 can read the SI data and put it in the database, also the rest of the chanels where is on the same transponder!

can this be done because, epg scaning is very slow and the MP is almost used (95%) for watching tv...there is no time to grap the epg data from satelite.

its prossible?

The reason this was disabled when card is used was because it caused stuttering & high cpu load..

Ok, i have a Dreambox 7000S for the "normal" TV experience and this can this do while i'm viewing tv.

You can look on the dreambox sourcecodes (Open Source) how to handle that.
On my Intel Dual 2 Core i have not very much CPU load while the PC is getting the SI data....(!?)

I guess it's not the EPG grabbing itself, but the DB update thats causing stuttering on some systems and therefore EPG grabbing has been disabled during recording / watching live tv. One possibility would be to add config option to allow EPG grabbing during recording / watching tv.

Hi,
I really would like to see this option. I'm using the tvserver in a single-seat setup and so my system isn't running when I don't use MP.
Since the db update is causing the stuttering, it might help to slow down and optimize the update process. For example the tvserver could update the db for one channel and than sleep for a while before the next channel is processed. Another solution could be to optimize the database structure and the SQL statement, but this could be very complicated, because the server supports two different DMBS.
Just my two cents.

I have yesterday foramted and installed new my system.

then i have tuned the channels, after this i had select that only a few channels are scanned for epg...
after 4 hours i have checked the values in the sql express db...

in the table was a lot of channels what i'm not selected to grab the dvb-egp!
there are some french channels. i had only selected german channels like pro7, sat1, rtl etc.


is there any problem that the process not get the correct channels?
or is this scanning all on the transponder if there is one selected?

That's normal.
TVE3 always scans the whole transponder of a given channel and returns epg for ALL channels on that transponder if you checked only one channel or channels of that transponder for epg grabbing.
To store epg only for the selected channels you can check the checkbox in SetupTV under "TVChannels->TV EPG Grabber" named "Store data only for selected channels"

The DVB-EP Scan ins now about 1/2 hour in progress and has only written 4 Programms from 2 Channels in the DB (!!??))

here are my EPG Log with a lot of timeouts , my Timeout setting is now at 15min and rescann all 480min.
