I have two Twinhan DVB-S cards (one is a 1020a, the other is a 1027) that I'm trying to get set up. Both are direct connects to the dish; no switches to worry about. TVServer sees both cards, but the 1020 shows no signal on all transponders during a scan. The 1027 card works fine with TVServer, and both cards work fine in DVBDream. I've spent about 4 hours going through all sorts of combinations of satellites, cards, slots, and software and the 1020 just refuses to work with TVServer. I've attached the log but there's not much to see.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The VisionPlus Twinhan 1020a (red card) BDA drivers (878 drivers I found here to allow this card to work in win7 64bit)- it shows up on my tv server cards list.

I have this exact issues. I've spent a couple days on this and researching here too with no success.

I'm using the Twinhan 1020a card. I'm having some issues with getting signal on all sats I've tried for example 97w (Galaxy).

97w LNB is Standard Linear.

I can't get signal on 97w using the following:

selected ku-linear (universal)
97.0 W Galaxy 19
checked use advanced tuning options
scan type: selected predefined provider
checked Override default LNB frequencies:
Low LOF1: 10750 High LOF2: 10750 Switch: 0

I have also tried the default LOF1/2 settings without overriding with with 10750

I get intermittent signal but no channels every time I scan.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum derbghalef :)

Okay first thing I'd ask you is are you certain of the type of LNB that you have - using the right LNB parameters is *critical*. If you know the correct parameters then stick with them...
It would be a good idea to make sure you have updated your transponders lists. To do that, click "update satellite list" (instead of "scan for channels") - that should download the latest transponder details for all the satellites. After you've done that, attempt a rescan. If you still have problems, please post your logs. It is really easy to do that if you use the watchdog. Find the "debug mode" link in the Team MediaPortal folder in your start menu. Start that up, then use the 3rd option ("export all currently present logs") to create a zip file containing all your logs and basic system information. Attach the zip file here in this thread and I'll try to take a look.

Did you get this straightened out?

When i wrote the original post I think my problem was that the TV Server setup wanted the frequencies in Hz, whereas DVBDream and LyngSat had a kHz base...or maybe the other way 'round...I don't remember. Anyways, I stripped out all the splitters, switches and splices so I had one continuous piece of copper connecting the dish to the Twinhan, filled in the correct info (from Lyngsat) for a transponder I knew was active, and tinkered until MP could see a signal. Once you get the first one the rest are pretty easy.

    Hi nh9927

Unfortunately I never heard back from derbghalef. I'm glad to hear that you managed to figure things out though. :)
I've tried to ensure that the unit (kHz) is now present on all the scanning and tuning detail edit screens so that we're very clear about the expected units...

    Hi,

    TV server version 1.1.3

I also have twinhan 1020a and unable to find any channels.
I installed DigitalTV3.3build08a and it is working in digital tv application but doesn't work in mediaportal.
I click on a card (dtv-dvbs 878 digital tuner filter) in tv server, tick option advance, enter below info:
    frequency = 10906000
    Symbol rate = 22000
    polarisation = linearV
    scan typ = single transponder
    Left LOF1 and LOF2 untouched

There is no error in error.log and tv.log entries when scanning are below
    2011-09-06 11:44:07.165758 [(26)]: Stopcard
    2011-09-06 11:44:07.181358 [(26)]: dvb:confused:topGraph called
    2011-09-06 11:44:07.181358 [(26)]: tvcard:FreeAllSubChannels

Not sure if it is important but i am able to find channels in dvb dream but unable to see any channels, signal and quality shows as 0% but during scanning quality and signal is strong.

Any suggestions on how to get this card working, am i doing something wrong?

    Hi vecnar

I installed DigitalTV3.3build08a and it is working in digital tv application but doesn't work in mediaportal.
Just to remind you: you can only use the tuner in one software application at a time.

I click on a card (dtv-dvbs 878 digital tuner filter) in tv server, tick option advance, enter below info...
The settings look okay, but what satellite are you trying to receive? Also:

    Left LOF1 and LOF2 untouched
Do you mean that you left "override default LNB frequencies" unticked? You need to make sure that the "band" setting is correct for your LNB. Do you know what kind of LNB you have?

There is no error in error.log and tv.log entries when scanning are below...
Sorry but those lines are not enough - I need *all* the logs. Please use the watchdog to grab them and post them here:

    1. Find the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu.
    2. Start it.
    3. Select option 3 "export all currently present logs".
    4. Click proceed to create a zip archive containing the logs (on your Desktop).
    5. Post the zip file here. There are instructions in the wiki on the watchdog page if you need help to do this.

Any suggestions on how to get this card working, am i doing something wrong?
I think your LNB settings are probably wrong. Can you find those settings in either DVBDream or DigitalTV and use them in MP?

    Hi mm ,

    Thanks for a quick reply!

Just to remind you: you can only use the tuner in one software application at a time.

I am using only one at a time and i did restart pc before doing scan.

Do you mean that you left "override default LNB frequencies" unticked? You need to make sure that the "band" setting is correct for your LNB. Do you know what kind of LNB you have?

Yes i left override unticked but now i have it ticked and set first to LOF1 9750 and LOF2 10600 as in digital tv but no luck. I am using sky dish with quad lnb and it is pointed to 28.2e. Note that i am not using diseq switch, cable goes directly to lnb.

I think your LNB settings are probably wrong. Can you find those settings in either DVBDream or DigitalTV and use them in MP?
It works on 9750 and 10600 in digital tv but mediaportal doesn't lock on signal.

I think mediaportal just doesn't lock the card, as during scan or lunching tv in digital tv or dvb dream i can hear click coming from the card but it doesn't happen when using mediaportal.
Also not sure if it is important or not i am using windows7 professional 32bit and i haven't done any windows updates in a few months.

    Logs attached

    Hi vecnar

    Thanks for the logs. :D
I think the problem is that you haven't ticked any of the satellite rows at the top of the section. You have to enable at least one in order for scanning to be performed. Doesn't matter if you don't use a DiSEqC switch - at least one *must* always be enabled. If your LNB is a [9750, 10600, 11700] standard universal LNB then you don't need to use the "override default LNB frequencies" - untick that. Instead, enable the first satellite row, select "none" in the DiSEqC field, "Ku-Linear (Universal)" option in the band field, and "28.2e Astra..." in the satellite field and try the scan again.

Thanks for that mm. I didn't use dvb-s card for around 2 years so it was a silly mistake but now i get no signal. I set diseqc to none and ku-linear (universal) band, i udated satellite list and scan.
Note that i get 100% signal and 38% quality in digital tv
    Attached is a new tv.log
