Dear all,

I have a little problem, but I don't know if it comes from this new release or not.

My goal is to set DVD audio to SPDIF. So I have set ffdshow to the DVD audio renderer and of course set DTS contents to SPDIF in ffdshow.

When the DVD loads, the sound is in stereo instead of 5.1. I have the feeling that ffdshow is not used. Indeed, I also use it for audio decoding of TV and videos and when it loads I have it in Windows status bar. But this is not the case for DVD.

Anyway, I enclose my logs...

FFdshow is used in your case

    Code:
    2008-04-20 16:52:46.328125 [Info.][MPMain]: added filter:DVD Navigator to graph
    2008-04-20 16:52:46.343750 [Info.][MPMain]: added filter:DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder to graph
    2008-04-20 16:52:46.375000 [Info.][MPMain]: added filter:ffdshow Audio Decoder to graph

But i would suggest the following to get to 5.1 sound.
    1. choose MPA as audio codec
    2. go to "MediaPortal configuration"
    3. open "DirectShow Filters" section
    4. select MPA
    5. choose "SPDIF passthrought"
    6. close MediaPortal Configuration
    7. enjoy ;)

Well, that is the first thing I've done actually, but it didn't work neither.

Maybe I have to reinstall some codecs?

could you please try it again and then attach the logs to your post (when confiuring MPA like that).
i might have an idea what happens.

please use the "MediaPortal Debug" shortcut when testing it again.
    :D

    Hi,

I have finally fixed the issue. It has nothing to do with MP :)

As others might have the same problem, I'll explain it...

The problem was from my sound card driver. I have a Terratec Aureon 5.1 and I used the latest drivers from Terratec.

What I've found on the internet is that this driver does not have SPDIF pass-through. Which explains why it did not worked.

Hopefully, a guy has completely rewrote the driver for sound cards with a CMedia chipset and this one has the SPDIF pass-through. The driver is open source and may be found here: cmediadrivers - Google Code

Note that it is compatible with a lot of sound cards as well :) So it my help others. Take a look at it over here: SupportedDevices - cmediadrivers - Google Code
