Hi, all of a sudden I have stopped getting audio when watching DVD's, it was working fine then just stopped after I tried sorting out a live tv issue (still unresolved.)
all of my audio settings are the same as tv etc and their sound works fine, just no sound on dvd. I have tried different codecs and renderers and all they do is crash the system. Any ideas?

and ideas? please bear in mind, I am a newb and not technically savy

    Hello again Kerry

Please try to untick the "use AC3 filter..." option on the "DVD Discs/Images Codecs" tab within the "Codecs and Renderer" section in MediaPortal Configuration.

If that doesn't help, please attach a screenshot of your LAV audio codec settings. Those settings can be accessed by clicking on the spanner/screwdriver button next to the "DVD audio" setting in the same section of MediaPortal Configuration described above.

    Regards,
    mm

not quite understand what is gong on here and why on graph cleanup there are two audio decoders, but it seems that settings in your LAV Audio decoder do not allow him to decode AC3 audio, and Microsoft decoder cannot decode AC3 when used from other programs except WMP.
Please Press Shift+1 while playing that DVD, make a screenshot (http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/Wi...?highlight=screenshot#MediaPortal_Screenshots) and post it here, so we see what audio decoder is in use when playing DVDs

    Yes, that's what I suspect also. :)

Hi Team, thanks for the interest, sorry for the slow reply. I have had a play and had some partial success, I now have surround sound, but no central channel , like I said partial success . I have taken some screen shots of my dvd audio settings in MP as requested from mm135200 and a dvd play screen shot as requested from Vasilich.
the sound card is as described in my screen grabs using optical out into a 5.1 decoder and speaker setup. it was running 100% until I messed up the codecs fiddling around trying to sort my live tv issues. so many thanks for your help so far.

Try to check "Bitstreaming - Formats - AC3" in LAV Audio settings. Remember, that if LAV audio doesn't bitstream, then you won't get multichannel over digital cable (SPDIF or HDMI).
How is your HTPC connected to speakers - do you have digital audio receiver/amplifier, or there are multichannel setup on your TV?

Hi team, Hi Vasilish, Bitstreaming was checked, still only surround sound. but good news the issue has been resolved with the complete reinstallation of my sound card, now have crystal 5.1 sound on my dvds.
Many thanks to everyone for their support and guidance
