But the problem is that some mainboards can´t be update scaleo e and co have a bios from the year 2005. Reinstalling an older catalyst isn´t a good idea. Even if it might work powerdvd causes many other error especially powerdvd 8!

No tv playback over network. Problems with Teletext on analog channels and last but no least picture failures at dvd playback. Want some more errors :D
Another cause for the DVD Playback can be the DVDRom itselfs.
Yes thats right. In my notebook i had a Slimtype DS8A1P DVD-Writer which causes the same problem.
First time you insert the DVD everything is fine but after the drive has spined down, the blank screen problem. Well crashed it yesterday, flashed it to death :D And bought a new drive today. The Problem is fixed now! Before that i was installing tousands of codecs and deinstalling them again. There may be even another solution for the blank screen problem. Try the EVR as videorenderer if you are using hardware accleration! Was good for me.

I think if you play a DVD from Harddrive its recognized as Movie and therefore the setting in the movie codecs section is beiing used.

That's not correct, if you have just ripped the VOB structure to the harddrive, MP will use the DVD codec and navigator settings.
