I've installed MP 0.2.2 on an AMD 64 3800, running 32bit XP Pro sp2, 1.5GB ram, nvidia video (onboard, can't remember exact model), and siig usb spdif. The computer is hooked to my 1080p tv via DVI.
My main goals are to play dvr-ms files recorded on another system (which someday I hope to move to TVEngine) and dvd (.ifo/.vob).
The DVD files play fine full-screen in Powerlink. The dvr-ms files play fine full-screen in WMP11.
In MP, dvr-ms files have stutter almost like frame-drops. The audio is fine. DVD files will pause/jump from time to time and then usually stop playing all together after a couple minutes. Screen just freezes.
I've tried some of the suggestions from searching on the forums. I've tried the other codecs, and even installed a few more (specifically FFDShow) and nothing changes.
The CPU is definately getting pegged. I can see that if I leave taskman open and kill off MP. W/o MP running, the cpu sits about < 2%.
Since the files play fine in separate external players, I know the machine can handle it, so I must have something misconfigured or not tweaked right in MP.
I saw references to buying purevideo codecs. I'm not opposed to it if it works, but I'm afraid to drop the $30 for no result.
I've also noticed that on both the DVD and dvr-ms files, the picture looks somewhat "washed out." Doesn't happen in WMP/PL.
Any suggestions?
