    Hi,

I have some weird DXVA problems.

The only working Codec with DXVA is "Cyberlink PowerDVD10".
With MS DTV Codecs DXVA is not working.

I retestet this with a clean Win7 installation with Cat 10.10 and MP 1.1.1 (and latest SAF5).
The problem is in DVBViewer, too.
So its not directly related to MP.

In addition to that I have problems with DVDs and Menues in MP:

With MS Decoder + MS Codec: Menu is working and DXVA is not used.
With MS Decoder + "Cyberlink PDVD10/SP" Codec: Menu works, but no DXVA.
With MS Decoder + "Cyberlink PDVD10" Codec: DXVA is active, but Menu is not working.

At the moment I'm really confused about all that, because the MS DTV Codec should work with DXVA on ATI Cards?!
And a working solution for DXVA with DVDs would be also nice ;)

Just small note - Cyberlink PDVD10/SP have DxVA disabled by default in SAF5.

BTW, what problem do you have with FFDshow as MPEG-2 decoding? MPEG-2 decoding will only eat a few % of CPU power, you will have HW deinterlacing (if you have SAF5) and working menu.

    Yes I've seen that.
I have also Version 9 installed and there is the option in the Codec Propertis active, but Graphstudio shows the opposit.

I have nothing against ffdshow, but sometimes it crashes when I seek (to much) and DXVA _should_ work.

Apart from that should DXVA work with the MS Codec (in the TV Mode) or I'm wrong?

@ hoborg: I would really like to use FFDshow as decoder for TV but it leads to heavy A/V sync issues. Is there any trick avoid this?

FFDshow can be only used for MPEG-2 LiveTV. I had A/V sync problem last time i tryed MePo too. But working fine on GB-PVR/nPVR, so must be MePo issue.

BTW, i just checked DVD playback in WMP v.12 (Win7 x64) on my ATI 5770 - gues what? No DxVA!

Possible reason - it doesnot work on ATI or MS video decoder doesnot use DxVA for DVDs.

So, no idea what is going on - can anybody with nVidia try it?

It can also be ffdshow issue - since majority of other codecs works without A/V sync. It could be just something that MP does to trigger a bug in ffdshow. But hard to say, we would need to have someone with detailed knowledge on ffshow's code so we could get some clues what is going wrong.

At least the DXVA + DVD + Windows 7 MPEG2 decoder + MP + Nvidia GT220 (or GT9500) work with HW acceleration enabled and DVD menus are working (two different PCs).

Haven't tested ever on WMP, so not able to tell if DXVA works on that.

    tourettes:
About FFDShow desync - it seems to be LiveTV in MEPo only (GB-PVR/nPVR working fine) . If i play back TS file in MePo, audio/video is in sync.

About DVD - you have nVidia, right? Can you try to play DVD in MePo, connect graphstudio and take screenshot to see if NV12 or DxVA is in use with Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder ?
