I am using MPC-HC codec for H264 files and recently noticed some 'artifacts' or picture breakup. I used Graph Edit to confirm the codecs and see that DXVA is not being used (see screenshots).
How do I enable DXVA and is this likely to be the cause of my issue?

Your problem is that you are using vista however you have the renderer set to VMR.
You need to choose EVR in MP settings (advanced mode)

    Win XP = VMR9
    Vista / Win 7 = EVR

No, MP is set to use EVR (not VMR9)
The attached screenshot was using GraphEdit to 'render media file', so I guess that it is not using EVR by default. When I 'connect to remote graph', it shows that EVR is being used, but 'properties' doesn't seem to indicate whether DXVA is being used. It seems that I didn't take enough care in actually reading the graphedit results!

Edit: I have update to latest MPC-HD codec, restarted system and now all seems good. Weird - I knew that as soon as I posted an issue, that it would go away.

Use GraphStudio instead and durning playback of DXVA video in MP connect to remote graph.
Simply render wont work, it wil open video using default renreder instead of one used by MediaPortal (EVR/VMR9)
