Easily change video file locations? (1 Viewer)

Great work with this app, I'm really liking it so far.

I'm currently messing around with fine tuning the movies database for proper titles, art, etc. on my desktop machine in preparation for a HTPC build this fall. My system has three HDDs across which are scattered my media (re: a Media\Videos folder in each physical HDD as each is too small to hold all my content itself). It looks like this:

F:\Media\Videos\Movies\
G:\Media\Videos\Movies\
H:\Media\Videos\Movies\

My question is, when I migrate to a single large HDD system build this fall, is there an easiest or recommended way to inform MP of the change in content location? I'll be moving all files in the above folders to (new HDD)\Media\Videos\Movies\

I've read about and had success with editing "path" table in VideoDatabaseV5.db3 using SQLite Database Browser, but is this the only way to do what I'll need to do?

I hope I've made myself clear. If not, please let me know as I'm really excited at the prospect of a slickly working MP HTPC build based upon the fine-tuned DB I'm working on now.

Thanks, cheers.

Not sure if I'm missing the point but isn't it just a case of changing the drives/directories in config ie remove the old ones and add drive/folder for the new one?

Doing as Nemulate states would call for a IMDB scan again....... and by the sounds of it, you have a large collection which would be cumbersome.

The best way I have seen is modifying the database with the new path. Maybe export the table, modify in excel (with global search-replace) and then re-import. Make sure to backup the database before hand in case things go wrong.....

Yes, I do and with lots of Japanese movies IMDB never gets right (or has info for). So re-adding them would negate all the time I'm putting into the database, as charli181 has surmised.

So, it looks like messing with the DB file either in the Browser is indeed the way to go, huh? I tried export/Excel/import a bit to speed things up but it didn't take. I may have to try that again later though.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was on the right track...
