    MediaPortal Version: 0.2.2.0
    MediaPortal Skin: Blue Two
    Windows Version: XP SP2

When trying to run Setup with MediaPortal open (or choosing Configuration or one of the Wizards options), I get an empty Yes/No dialog box. Choosing Yes closes MediaPortal, choosing No cancels the action.

Clearly this dialog should show some text?

    Hi pbb,

the dialog is showing here the following text:
"MediaPortal has to be closed for configuration.
    Close MediaPortal and start Configuration?"

    [Yes] [No]

Never heard this issue for other users. Do you have a special WinXP build, any special language edition, what regional settings you are using?

    regards

Hey chef, thanks for the reply. I've included a screenshot.

I am using a standard English Windows XP (SP2), with standard fontsize on 1152x864. The only "non-standard" thing may be that I have regional settings on UK English, and location on Norway. I will check if changing those makes any difference...

Ok, I just changed everything to United States, and restarted MediaPortal, but no change. Still an empty dialog box....

    Hi,
    Is this still a problem?
Have not seen it @ all here, using Norwegian XP, Vista, MCE (English), was this after a clean install?

Yes, nothing has changed, still an empty Yes/No dialog.

I always do my Windows installs clean (formatting the system partition), and I've had this problem with MP both in 0.2.2.0 and SVN versions.

I am running lots of programs, and I haven't noticed any other program having any problems with disappearing text. Also in MP I have not found any other parts that have text display problems.

If I can find some spare time, I might try to setup a virtual PC install and see what it does there.

Would be great if someone has any idea what could be cause this...

    Hi,
With clean install i meant MP & no old files/folders re-used.
Hopefully someone else can confirm this....

    I have the same problem.

I discovered that when I exit Mediaportal in most cases it's still active for some reason (Windows Task Manager says Mediaportal is running), very strange.

When I go to Config it indead says: "MediaPortal has to be closed for configuration. Close MediaPortal and start Configuration?"

I run XP SP3. The only not common is that I installed te StreamedMP plugin, but already got that a while.

Can anyone tell me what is the most correct way to close MediaPortal? Thanks

I just found out the solution (for me):

It has something to do with the remote control. Uninstall the MCE Replacement Driver and the problem is solved.
