I'm trying to use ffdshow to post process my DVD's. In the cofiguration I've got the option DVD post processing under DVD en Movie post processing under Movie.

When I enable post processing it post processes my divx and xvid's but not my DVD. I see this through the OSD of ffdshow, when playing dvix/xvid's I see the osd (and the ffdshow logo in the system tray). But with DVD there's no OSD or icon in the system tray.

The funny thing is when I dissable post processing in the MP configuration it still post processes, which I don't understand why.

In the config of ffdshow i've enable mpeg2 (tried both options Libavcodec and libmpeg2) but still no processing of the image. In the config of ffdshow there also a option to enable DVD decoding, but it states "not working yet". Tried that option also but without succes.

I'm using ffdshow version 15-11-2005 (the recommended version for post processing).

Anyone ideas how to enable post processing for DVD's?

Question: how do you know post processing is actually working? are there certain artifacts that are clear giveaways? or can you look at processor usage? should the image be cleaner/smoother?

Which version of ffdshow du you use?

EDIT: The best way to determine if ffdshow is used would be to enable the OSD in ffdshow's settings.

@ shred444: I know that post processing is working through the OSD of ffdshow (as stated in the TS). It shows input resolution, output resolution and cpu usage, and also the ffdshow videodecoder icon appears in the systemtray. When no OSD appears and no ffdshow videodecoder icon appears in the system tray post processing isn't working.

About the quality: That is the reason i'm trying this. I'm projecting a 160cmx90cm display with the resolution of 1280x720 in my livingroom with a beamer, I would like to see if upscalling the dvd's could improve the quality.
Upscalling divx/xvid's isn't really neccesary for me because these are mostly series in my case which I don't watch on my beamer but on my simple CRT TV.

illStyle: my bad, I use version 20051115 of ffdshow. About the OSD: this is showing up with divx/xvid's but not with DVD's. Both post processing enabled and disabled in MP config doesn't change this (disable post processing in MP config, result: post processing still happens with divx/xvid's).

    Hi,

The funny thing is when I dissable post processing in the MP configuration it still post processes, which I don't understand why.

This is because ffdshow also is used as XviD / DivX decoder. If you enable filters in MP they will apply for every decoding which ffdshow does and for postprocessing using the RAW filter (if it connects).

    HTH,
    Flip.
