@Simian60 if the MPA setting as described doesnt work, then the problem is caused outside MediaPortal.
most likely the soundcard or its driver/configuration.

Cheers - the EDIROL seems to baulking at DTS/AC3 pass-through for some reason, I've been offered a loan of an m-Audio s/c, so I'll see if that works.
