Hi all,

i have some problems with the EPG Grabber. It seems that the EPG grabber does not work proper with all channels beginning with Z. See attached Screenshot.
I turned on the computer at 12:03. Then Mediaportal was in homescreen mode without showing TV. At 13:12 i made the screenshot. The result is the same if Mediaportal in in homescreen mode for longer (e.g. for one day). As you can see, all channels are updated prober except channels with Z. These channels are only updated with one show. I had this issue with RC 1 also, with RC2 it was fixed and now its back again. Can anyone help me out?

Regards
Michael

Hi,

has nothing to do with Z. You are switched on one channel of the ARD group, and so all ARD-channels get the EPG. The ZDF-channes get only the information for about 1 hour.

Switch to ZDF, and your "problem" will be solved.

Thanks for you reply.

It seems that I don't understand how EPG works. I thought that the EPG information is only grabbed if TV is off. Can you explain me how it works really? Before I took the screenshot MediaPortal was in homescreen for over one hour and no TV was turned on. I do not understand how you can see that I'm "switched on one channel of the ARD group". Anyway - I'll give you solution a try and I'll report the results soon.

Hi,
it depends on your adjustments in "TV-Server, General, EPG", how your EPG works.

It will grab the EPG-Data if TV is off ONLY when you check "EPG grabbing while idle". Theoretically this is a very good adjustment, because it would grab the EPG from all channels. But some people say (in this forum, search for it) that this makes the server unstable. That is why I unchecked it.

With my settings, it does the following:
- Grab the EPG when TV is on, and grabbing (in this case) only the group you are switched on (EPG grabbing while timeshifting = TV on).

To your question, why you did see the EPG even because your TV was off: When some EPG is grabbed, it is stored in the database. So the information you see is from one of the last times when you had the TV on.

I had checked the option "EPG grabbing while idle". See my configuration in the screenshot. I do not understand why it does not grab the whole information on all channels which start with Z. For all other channels (which do have EPG information at all) it works fine. Maybe a bug?

Now I do the same setting like in your screenshot - I'll write an update soon.

Thanks for your help.

Michael

Moin moin,
I have now the same problem.
Only the ZDF-EPG-Data are only short-temporarly stored.
In the last RC2-SVN was not it like that.

@huskyfan:
At least you should check "Always try to fill holes" - or you try, as you said, my settings

@huskyfan and Golf4
Do not forget to check the channels in "TVchannels - TV Epg grabber"

If i do the same settings like AlfredENeuma suggested the grabber works fine, even with the channels ZDF, ZDFinfo, ZDFtheater, ZDFdoku (see Grabber_does_work.jpg). The grabber grabs EPG data for the next days and stores it within the database. But if I do the setting like in "Grabber_does_not_work.jpg) the grabber does not work with the channels ZDF, ZDFinfo, ZDFtheater, ZDFdoku. All other channels work fine. I'm not sure what is the reason for this. I think its a bug in the grabber. In RC2 with setting like "Grabber_does_not_work" the grabber definitely worked with all channels. Thanks for you help AlfredENeuma.
I think it would be better if the EPG grabber is configured like in "Grabber_does_work.jpg" by the installer because for me the options and the resulting behavior is not easy to understand.

By the way: On my system I could not read the option "Grabbing EPG if timeshifting/recording" because the text is hidden (see screenshot Grabber_does_not_work.jpg)
