Every few days I have the problem that the TV Server does not start a scheduled recording. When I look into the log files I find always first

2011-12-26 18:57:06.772672 [scheduler thread(9)]: Controller: epg stop
2011-12-26 18:57:06.774672 [scheduler thread(9)]: Scheduler : record, first tune to channel

but then a few msec later

2011-12-26 18:57:06.808672 [scheduler thread(9)]: Controller: epg start
2011-12-26 18:57:06.919672 [scheduler thread(9)]: scheduler: recording failed, lets try next available card.

In case of a correct start of recording, I find only the "epg stop", but no "epg start" which prevents recording.

For older versions of MP I found some issues about the EPG, but they are marked as solved. Maybe I did some wrong configuration.

Any ideas?

    Hi and welcome hoges29 :)

Please could you supply full logs showing the problem.

    Log Files - MediaPortal Wiki

You can follow the instructions for non-reproducible problems and specify the time that the recording failed if it is easier.

    Hello mm1352000,

for the moment I can only deliver a reduced set of log files, because the last days all went okay. The next time when I encounter a problem with recording, I will build a full set and attach it.

The failed recording can be seen in the TV Server log at 2011-12-26 18:57:06.770672, a working recording at 2011-12-27 00:45:06.768859.

    Hi again

It looks like the same TsWriter deadlock discussed -->here<--. Please try disabling CRC checking in the DVB EPG settings in TV Server configuration and then restart TV Server and see if the problem keeps happening.

    Hello mm1352000,

thank you for your quick response. I will give the disabling of the CRC a try.

    Hello mm1352000,
yesterday the recording was not working again, even with the EPG CRC switched off.

But this time it seems (to me) that the reason can be slightly different. After finishing a recording in the morning at 9:15 the TsWriter stops completely according to the log.

I found this out in the evening after several scheduled recording were not done. The client could communicate with the server, but switching TV on blocked everything, so that I had to kill the TV server via the Task Manager. After restarting the TV server everything went on without any further problem.

If it's still the same deadlock, it has nothing to do with the CRC. Any furter ideas?

    Sorry for hijacking this tread.
May I ask which version of MP you are running.
Because since I upgraded from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2 I have a similar problem.

    Cheers.

AW: EPG blocks start of scheduled recording

Today I had again the same symptoms which I had the first time: The scheduler tries to start a recording and tells then "recording failed" right after an "epg start" also with CRC disabled.

Via the TV Server setup "Manual control" I tried the timeshift (e.g. at 13:17:29.180674). It started and was working for a short time before it was stopped by the scheduler, which could be seen in the log files at 13:17:40.490674 ("kicking user"). But the scheduler could not use the now free and working channel.

After stopping and restarting the TV server via the setup program the recording was working. And the computer was started just an hour before at 12:04.

    Any further ideas?

BTW: I updated in the meantime to version 1.2.2.0.

I left some recordings set up during a 9 day absence. When I returned the recordings which were beyond the scope of the EPG available when I left hadn't been made. Logs are atttached, which seem to show a lot of EPG conflicts, so I am suspecting a similar problem here. However, I saw a failure to update a radio station EPG, so maybe it was just my mistake in leaving radio stations selected, when there doesn't seem to be EPG data available. I was unable to start TVsetup without first rebooting, presumably due to the exception in TV server. I have had the CRC option turned off for many months now. It is still unclear to me whether the Power Scheduler plugin should be used to ensure updating of the DVB EPG, or whether it is only intended for WebEPG. ISTR that I had problems keeping my DVB EPG up to date without Power Scheduler.
