Epg help me!!!!!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

Hey there.

I have tried everything - tick boxes - everything! theres so many different options.

I can't figure out how to get EPG working!

Atm - all I can see are 4 channels.

I have ticked every channel under DVB epg.

okay now more channels are coming up.

But how do I make all channels come up straight away?

I only have ABC 1,2,HDTV and Nine, Nine HD, Go

Hi Jayendra,

If you actually are in Australia (as your profile indicates), then you're better of going with one of the guide download services (there are a few free ones around), rather than relying on grabbing the program information from the broadcasters. I remember trying to use the EPG grabber early on when I started using MediaPortal but it was pretty unreliable.

I use an XMLTV downloader from epgStream.net ? Welcome! for my guide, but I know that a couple of people within the MediaPortal community have developed guide downloaders as well. For me, the epgstream.net product works really well - I'd highly recommend it. However, do a search in the forum for "Australian EPG" and you'll find the other available options.

Yeah I tried the webepg plugin with that but couldnt' get it working

Downloaded - installed - using the non pay version. - pointed media portal to tvguide.xml

Can you give me some tips

Hi Jayendra,

I don't use the WEBEPG plug-in - with the epgstream.Net downloader, it's a two-step process.

First, there's the separate XMLTVDOWNLOADER which runs, and actually downloads the tv guide data. Then I have the XMLTV plug-in (which is one of the standard TV-Server plug-ins) configured to look in the directory where the tvguide.xml file downloads to (actually, I think it specifically needs to download to the Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv directory).

Within the XMLTV plug-in configuration there's a mapping tool, so once you've done the first download it knows which channels you've downloaded and then you can map those to the channels that you are able to tune on your card.

First step, if you're going to use the epgstream.net downloader will be to actually install it and configure, and make sure you get a successful download. By the way, on the epgstream.net site there is plenty of useful help, including a guide on getting it working with MediaPortal.

Alternatively, as I said, there are a few other Aussies within the MediaPortal community who've developed their own tv guide downloaders, and their threads include the setup programs as well as instructions, and I'm sure they're more than happy to answer any questions you might have. If you do need further help with the epgstream setup, let me know.
