EPG issues (have tried to use xmltv and zap2it plugin, with no luck) (1 Viewer)

I have been using MediaPortal for the last three months or so, and it has been a great front-end for my HTPC. Really the only area i have had issues with is the EPG. For whatever reason, it has given me a lot of trouble. I first tried using the zap2it plugin. However, no matter what i tried, i could not get it to work. it kept giving me a message when i started MP up saying that it was unable to process any channels, and asked if i did an autotune.
I followed the directions given in this thread:

So next i tried using the xmltv method, following the directions in this thread:

I finally got this to work after some effort. For example, if my channel list did not match it would not load the EPG properly. and for whatever reason, the time zone offset was not accurate.
However, after a few days i suddenly found my EPG completely blank again. i tried redoing the xmltv guide, but i have not been able to get a full EPG since. to make matters worse, for whatever reason now certain channels are still named, while others are blank, and if i try to delete any of these channels they don't seem to stay deleted.
If i delete all channels, then use the "import from tv guide" only certain channels get listed (the top half or so).

If really would appreciate some help in this. Is there no easier way for me to get an EPG in MP?

I can post the log file(s) if needed, just let me know what i need to post from them.

anyone have any suggestions? i have searched the support section of the forums, but i haven't found anything too specific to the problems i am having.
the zap2it plugin seems to work great for people, so i'm not quite sure why i can't get it to work.

i can post post the log file, but someone please tell me what actions to do first in setup/MP before copying from the log file because i'm not quite sure when the problem "occurs", it's just is not working no matter what i try.

any help with this is appreciated. sucks that my first post here has to be about something not working, i apologize for that.

Try installing MediaPortal 0.2.1.0, then try the Zap2It Plugin. Just do an autotune, and don't mess with the channel listings at all. Then run Zap2it.

I am in Canada too and using Rogers. I cannot get the EPG to work and tried the Zap2It as well. No luck with either. I am considering going back to MCE because of this. I have a couple of young kids in house and don't want them to be too confused. I would love to stick with MP and keep using the MPTVSeries plugin. It is an awsome plugin.

Any ideas on how to get the EPG working?
