microsoft(legacy) Its still free and works fine for my comcast cable channels.

No it doesn't tell you if it a new program but that doesn't matter to me as i only record movies that i select.

    exactly... ;)

If I remember correctly, legacy didn't cover all the OTA sub channels for all broadcast markets. So for someone like me with neither cable nor sat, it didn't quite do it ... so I either had to make a substantial donation to get the new MS TV listings, or buy a yearly service.

It's either you pay for TV and get free EPG or you pay for the EPG and get free TV.

    Seems like a fair trade-off.

    SchedulesDirect FTW!

$20/year. Zero configuration and setup (well, you have to install the dll and establish a lineup on the SD website ;-) It just works. I have had zero issues in nearly two years of use (once in a while the guide is wrong, but the SD folks fix things for you).

I spent a lot of time fooling around with xmltv, blah, blah, blah. It was a real project. When I found SD that was it! Heck, with the rest of MP being a project (to some extent ;-) it was nice to off load the whole epg thing.

Ok, lets say I swallow my pride and go for the $20 SD subscription... Is there a pluggin to OOP for SD? Or do you have to use the method posted here... mc2xml and then import into xmltv? If this is much less painful than using microsoft legacy(or titantv) and I can find out when programs are *new*, I think it would be worth it.

I gotta say I am kinda bummed that titantv isn't working out anymore. I have searched around and it seems the 30-digit ID code has killed that prospect unless you have purchased a tuner card with a unique ID buried deem down inside. (and you want to install a packet sniffer) Although the thought has occurred to me to build a bat file to keep spamming random 30-digit numbers and checking if any were successful. It would be a long-shot, but I would consider it if I thought it might work.

I look forward to your comments ;)

    SchedulesDirect plugin for MediaPortal

It goes into your TV Server /plugins/windows folder. Pretty straightforward set-up (imo). I've been using it for nearly 4 years.

When a program is listed correctly (more often than not) it will show either New: or First Shown:date. ... or something like that... in it's description on the guide, the recorded TV and the scheduled programs screens. You can get a guide listing up to 14 days out.

    Hi everyone

SchedulesDirect costs money - have you seen -->this<--? Apparently Mc2xml converts MC guide info to XMLTV format so that it can be imported into TV Server. I'd be interested to know if it works for you...

the mc2xml is exactly what you need just click on the post that was put in by mm1352000 and you will have to set your time offset by your timezone and use the world offset like for central us where i am it is -5

here we go again ..... :D

how about a near one-click solution. just install as a plugin with minimal configuration (name, password, zipcode) and let it go to work for you ..... can anybody make it happen?

    Chuck,
Thanks for the info on the SD Pluggin. To be honest, I am tired of spending all this time trying to get a free solution, so I will be going the SD route. I will install the pluggin this weekend and let you know if there are any issues.

    Thanks again for your help.

I've used zap2it, mc2xml using TitanTV, SchedulesDirect for 2 years and now use mc2xml using Microsoft (legacy) because it's free and works for me, and SchedulesDirect is by far the easiest way to get the EPG working in the USA.
