I've had the same issue this weekend after the upgrade to 1.2.2 the EPG for HD over Freeview was scrambled characters.
I checked the TsWriter.ax file hadn't been overwritten by the upgrade and it hadn't. I tried regsvr32 and EPG refresh to no avail.
I eventually copied over the TsWriter.ax file I had previously from above that had corrected the issue (despite it still being there), ran regsvr32 on it, and then deleted all EPG and refreshed the EPG.
So, suggests you need to re-copy the TsWriter.ax before the regsvr32 and EPG refresh. Thanks to all for the tips on here, got me scratching my head for a while. Also, when can the above TsWriter.ax be placed into the distro so I can upgrade next time?
