Hello together,

I'm new to the forum. I posted this problem yesterday in the German subsection but did not get any reply yet. That's why I try in the English forum.

I'm fighting now with Mediaportal for some weeks. I fixed already some problems but there is on big problem left and I have no more ideas how to tackle it. I have read a lot of posts and fiddling around but no luck yet.

Mediaportal is now going to sleep (S3 or S4 whatever I choose), wakes up and is doing the recording and goes to sleep again.
Unfortunately when I wake up the PC again with the power switch (everything else is disabled at the moment) I do get (most of the time) a Microsoft dotnet error (see attachment). I can press ignore and Mediaportal starts.

Even if I don't get the dotnet error I get the following Mediaportal error:

2011-12-27 19:11:50.281250 [ERROR][MPMain(1)]: d3dapp: An error occured in OnResize - System.NullReferenceException: Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt.

bei Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Device.raise_DeviceReset(Object i1, EventArgs i2)
bei Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Device.Reset(PresentParameters[] presentationParameters)
bei Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Device.OnParentResized(Object sender, EventArgs e)
bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnResize(EventArgs e)
bei System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnResize(EventArgs e)
bei MediaPortal.D3DApp.OnResize(EventArgs e)

Mediaportal starts but I can not watch the recording. It looks like the recording is played but not displayed.
The only solution is to restart the PC. After that everything works fine (until the next recording.... ;-)

I have already reinstalled the dotnet framework, directx, Mediaportal and fiddled around with MPStandbyHandler and probably all the switches in the "start/resume" section of the configuration.

Hopefully somebody is able to help me with the attached logs.

Thanks in advance and kind regards

McKenna

    Hi McKenna

Just a guess: are you using a custom or non-default font DPI setting to get larger or smaller text?

    Hi mm,

good guess, I used windows large (125%, 120dpi). I reverted back to normal, deleted the Mediaportal font cache and tested again. No change.
I then deleteted an reinstalled the windows fonts, deleted the Mediaportal cache and unfortunately still the same problem.
Are there specific Mediaportal fonts and a specific way to treat them?

    Hi again

Are there specific Mediaportal fonts and a specific way to treat them?
No, not that I know of. It was just a complete guess on my part based on the references to font and DirectX in the exception. Sorry you'll need someone who knows more about these things than me.

[solved] Error d3dapp after recording and standby

    Hello,

    just to keep you informed.
I sort of fixed the problem by reinitializing the ATI PCIe card with MPstandbyHandler V.2 after resume from standby.

Problem was obviously not due to Mediaportal.
