8/15/2006 9:04:32 PM Exception   :System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040273): Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {51B4ABF3-748F-4E3B-A276-C828330E926A} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: 80040273

The given CLSID points to the Video Mixing Renderer 9 (i.e. the VMR9 DirectShow filter) which is a part of DirectShow (which again comes with WMP). It fails with the error code 0x80040273 which means:

HRESULT: 0x80040273 (2147746419)
Name: VFW_E_DDRAW_CAPS_NOT_SUITABLE
Description: Either DirectDraw has not been installed or the Video Card
capabilities are not suitable. Make sure the display is not in 16 color
mode.
Severity code: Failed
Facility Code: FACILITY_ITF (4)
Error Code: 0x0273 (627)

Alright everyone, thanks for all your help. Your replies led a friend of mine to suggest checking further into my Windows setup, where we discovered that since I had done a clean install of XP off an older CD and not run all of the updates, I was actually running Service Pack 1.

An upgrade to SP2 resulted in a fix of all my problems, and things now seem to be working correctly, with the exception that despite how many minutes early I tell it to start it always seems to start exactly 1 minute late... any ideas on that?

Maybe SP2 should be added to the System Requirements list if it is not already, as that definetly fixed the problem with MP recognizing my tuner.

SP2 it's already in the requirements list for MediaPortal 0.2.X.
