Error Occured When Importing Channels from TV Server (1 Viewer)

I have an HDHR and have scanned for QAM-HRC channels and retrieved the ones I want in the TV Server Config. I've also selected the ones I want and exported the XML. I saved this as tvguide.xml and imported it into XMLTV. This part works fine (although I have no Guide Channels to choose from).

From what I understand, I'll need to get WebEPG to map the channels to the actual guide data. As the documentation states, I got into WebEPG Config and chose my source as 'TV Server'. Once I click this I hit 'Import' and get the following error:

"An error occured while trying to import channels. See log for more details."

I don't know what log its referring to, or why the import failed. Any ideas? This is on Vista 32bit.

Also, I'm a bit confused as to how the EPG works at all? I see 'TV Epg grabber' in the TV Server configuration but that doesn't appear to do anything. I then see XmlTV as a plugin, and WebEPG Guide as a standalone app. How do these work together, and what is the use for all 3?

Problem has been fixed

I had the same problem importing channels from TV-Server and it has been fixed with a new version of the webepg-conf.exe

See this thread, for the patched version.

The documentation does have a guide on WebEPG ->
MediaPortalSetup_WebEPG - MediaPortal Manual Documentation

I have not setup by WebEPG in the same way as you but here is the way I configure.

Step 1 - Configure Channels to Download

Run WebEPG-conf.exe (The new version from post above)
- import your channels from TV-Server
- change the country to be correct and then click 'Auto Map'
- Check each channel has been mapped correctly. If not click on the Channel and then click on the button '...' on the right. This will then list all possible Channels for you to pick. Once this dialog box is open you do not need to close so keep open while you check the rest of channels.
- Change the numbers of days you wish to download, e.g. 14 Days
- Once finished click 'SAVE' - very easy to lose all of your work.;)

Step 2 - Test Setup and Schedule Download

Run WebEPG.exe, this will download information from Internet and store in tvguide.xml. - This is only to manually check that things are working as expected.
- To setup on a schedule goto MediaPortal Configuration, Plugins, WedEPG Grabber
- Enable the Plugin and then Configure
- Setup Time and Days to download EPG Data

Step 3 - Configure TV-Server

Run TV-Server Configuration
- Goto Plugins and Enable XmlTv. This will let you expand Plugins and see XmlTV
- Go into Plugins\XmlTv and click on the Mappings Tab.
- Click on Load/Refresh - This should then load all your TV Channels.
- Click on SAVE
- Go to Settings Tab and click on Import
- This make take a few seconds, should then say the number of channels and programs imported.

Step 4
Start MediaPortal and make sure that TV Guide works okay :)

Thanks - that worked. So I now need to manually map all my channels - but the ones I can pick from (yahoo and imdb) here in the states doesn't really show me all the channels I need, and has no local channels. Is there a way to pull in a more comprehensive listing of channels from somewhere?
