Hi All,

I installed Media Portal and it seemed to go smoothly, however when starting the program i recived the following message

"Application has generated an exception that could not be handled
Process id=0x5foc(24332), Thread id=0x5be8(23528)"

Any ideas??
I have updated the .net to the latest version as suggested

I suddenly got the same error on my existing installation.

Since I couldn't switch on TV I restarted the PC and got the error when MediaPortal started. Uninstall of .NET 1.1 and 2.0 and reinstall of 1.1 didn't fix the error. It turned out to be a corrupt MediaPortal.xlm-file. Since it is an existing system I had a MediaPortal.xlm.bak-file to replace it with and that fixed the error.

Don't know if this gives any clues to the error on a fresh install of MP but I would test to rename the MediaPortal.xlm-file and see whats happening.

Might be of some help for others.
I also had the same problem and what I found out using MediaPortal Support app that there the MesiaPortal.xml file was missing in the install directory, so I simply created on and now it works.
