Hi

I have a problem with this version. When trying to play a Blu-Ray movie (image) i'm getting the following error :

"Error: The Executable for HD playback is missing"

My setting in MP are as follows :

Use External Player : True
External Player Path : "c:\Program Files (x86)\12noon Display Changer\dc64.exe" (Verified, the file is there)
External Player Arguments : "c:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Theatre 3\uMCEDVDPlayer.exe" -refresh=24 "%filename%" (Verified, the file is there)

Using MP 1.1.3.0 / StreamedMP 1.1.0.0

Am I overlooking something obvious here?

Another thing : I think you're doing a great job, but I also think that your priorities a somewhat strange. For example, Issue 466 from July 2009, "Changing driveletter for optical drives can cause movie deletion". That's a pretty serious issue, especially if you do not have a backup of your movie db. Because of this particular issue i'm forced to having an external drive attached to my HTPC, because if I remove it all my movies will be deleted.

Best Regards

Sorry for the trouble Hr. Kvist. Regarding your external player issues, could you please enable debug logging, reproduce the error and post the log files? Without complete logs it is difficult to determine much more than the fact that something went wrong.

As far as Issue #466, this issue is flagged as critical, it is not possible for us to set it as a higher priority. It has been delayed a bit because hardware changes are required to reproduce the error making it particularly time consuming to debug. That said, this error should not affect the behavior of external hard drives. If you are having movies removed from your database when you disconnect an external drive, this is a different bug and you should file a bug report on our tracker.

Hi fforde

Problem solved; Removed the " in the external player path, and the removed the 12Noons display Changer and had the MoviePlayer request the DC change instead.

A little OT, but the Issue 466. I have used my external drive to index all my movies that I currently have on the shelve.
Looking in the MP DB it's obvious that the drive letter for my external drive is hard coded.
When I disconnect my external drive all movies index'ed with this drive will be deleted from the MP DB, other movies will still be there.

Is this not what this issue is all about?

Thanks for your swift reply and keep up the good work on this plugin.

Best Regards

Well we detect if a movie has been removed from your collection by looking at both the drive the video files are on and the presence of the video files themselves. If for example Moving Pictures cant find the files for a particular movie but the drive those files are on is also missing, no action is taken. The movie is considered 'offline' and of course is not playable but it remains in your collection. On the other hand if the disk is actually plugged into your system but the file is gone then we assume you have deleted the files and you no longer want the movie. In this case the movie is removed from your database.

We uniquely identify a disk by it's serial number so if you unplug one external hard drive and plug in a second one in it's place, you should not have any problems. The check is not restricted to the drive letter, it is more sophisticated than that.

So based on this, no I would not expect your movies to be deleted when you unplug an external drive. Our importer however is rather complicated and the code is a bit messy in a few places so if you think there is a problem, backup your database, turn on debug logging and try to reproduce the problem. Then if/when you succeed, post your logs here along with a detailed description of what exactly you did.

Hi fforde

I'm not talking about hardrives, but DVD Drives.

As i said all movies index'ed with a particular dvd drive will be deleted from the MP database, once the DVD drive no longer exists.

From the description of the issue :

Changing the driveletter for optical drives in the OS will cause the
hidden import path for the old driveletter to be removed when the plugin
is restarted. All movies linked to this import path will in turn be
deleted.

My sister I think has an external DVD drive, I will see if I can borrow it to try to reproduce and fix. Sorry for the trouble.
