Re: eventTrigger [v1.2.0 Beta]

version 1.2.0
◦A possible fix to a problem where the plugin would hang on loading or in the configuration screen

The hanging have stoped but it still starts a second copy of eventghost but only when ju clicking plugins in MediaPortal Configuration

And what happens if you go into the configuration 3 times? do you end up with 3 instances of eventGhost?

Re: eventTrigger [v1.2.0 Beta]

When I click plugins in MediaPortal Configuration, only one copy of EG starts.
When I start MP it's running only one EG in the background of MP.
So the problem is solved for me now.

Are there any plans to add support for switch King to in this plugin?
It would be very much appreciated.

Then just close all existing instances of EventGhost before you launch MediaPortal or MediaPortal configuration. The program (EventGhost) will start by itself and you'll work with that instance.

SwitchKing support: Seems counter intuitive for me to add support for Switch-King. The way I see it is that this plugin is a relay between MediaPortal and event based automation software that'll know what to do with generated events.
However, what I do plan on doing is adding a third tab that is user customizable, where you'd be able to send messages to any software or batch file you want. Then a user can activate some SwitchKing command line parameters if he so wishes (however, as I wrote, my vision is for EventGhost to launch those commands).

I'm using EventGhost for all kinds of stuff so it is launched when Windows starts and shouldn't be shut down. Isn't it possible to reuse the EventGhost session already running?

Ok I understand and it will work fine for me too I think. :D
The only problem that I have and want to do is list all devices inside MP in a menu called (lights)
do you think there is a solution to that if I use SK?

The second wish is that it's possible to select groups inside MP Plugin.
Since I have a projector and a TV connected to the same computer. I would like to be able to select different groups of lights to be controlled depending on what I'm viewing. Even a Disable function where you can switch the entire plugin off would be grateful. why I want it in MP and not in the MP config is to be able to use the remote control.

hope you understand what I mean and thank you for an awesome plugin so far. :D

that was just my suggestion to the user neorules who seems to be the only user who get two instances of EventGhost. It is my belief that it happens for him because he has two different installations of eventghost. Are you having the same problem as well?

On your first wish, I think that is possible in the original Tellstick Pause plugin, but I might be mistaken. At any rate, that is not what this plugin is for.

On your second wish, why don't you let EventGhost handle that? You could let EventGhost detect when you turn on your projector or your TV and set a variable "Proj on", "TV on". Then when the eventTriggers detects an MP event, you can execute different commands (e.g. "light groups") depending on if the proj or the TV is on.

Same thing with the disable: let EventGhost detect a disable command from your remote and set a variable "Disabled". Then check this variable before executing any MP triggered events and just ignore what's coming from the plugin if disable is true. Or better yet, you can disable the EventGhost macros altogether and enable them again when you press your "enable" button.

These types of things are very easy to do in EventGhost.

I think the beauty of this plugin is its simplicity: just detecting what's happening in MP and letting EventGhost/Girder know about it. All logic should be in EventGhost/Girder, not in the plugin.

You can also do the SwitchKing integration in EventGhost very easily. Just let EventGhost write to a file (using the EG File Operations plugin) that SwitchKing monitors as a "Datakälla". In fact, that is another way to handle the proj/tv issue; by having different groups and scenarios in SwithKing and trigger the right one from EventGhost depending on if proj or TV is on.

    Thx for you reply mickelin

I have used Tellstick Pause plugin before and the problem now is that my tellstik is not in the same computer as MP. so I do not think it will work.

I have also discovered the potential of EG and this is exactly what I'm looking for, but I do not know how to get EG to understand if I choose TV or projector when I only have "event trigger play. when I start a movie. Don't I need two different outputs dependent on what I want to do. I mean, for example,
"Event Trigger play TV" for TV = run xxx.bat
"event trigger play projector" for Projector = run yyy.bat

Yes I know how to configure SK with groups and scenarios. But I have never used EG before so I'm a little bit lost
