When I turn on EVR, I get tearing with fast motion scenes. System:
AMD 64x2 4800+
2GB DDR2 800
ATI Radeon x1250, running latest catalyst
Vista w/ SP1 x86

MP 1.0 RC1

Tearing does not happen when I turn on VMR9 instead. I have enabled the "always wait for v-synch" in my video drivers, which didnt' help.

Any ideas?

You need to be using Vista home premium or ultimate for this, believe your on xp acording to your other post.

If i'm wrong then you should definately be using EVR instead of VMR9.

I'm using XP (I hate Vista...) but when I enable EVR (with Net Framework 3.5) I get some fastidious tearing. No way to correct problem?

Sorry zappomax, the EVR is not fully implemented with respect to hardware acceleration in XP and probably won't ever be. If you have access to Vista (and the horsepower to run it) video is much better on Vista

Eeek I am using Home Basic and EVR gives me awful tearing. How can I solve this without "upgrading" to Home Premium? Is it possible?

Aero is needed to get tear free picture on EVR, sorry, its technical limitation from Windows side (new way of graphics rendering is needed).

Ok thanks for the info, at least I now know and my HTPC still isn't in full time use yet, so that's good :)
