I am experiencing some slow MP startup. It sits at the 'Initializing input devices' screen for like two minutes.
Mediaportal.log included.

What's causing this?

Even after driver update it hangs on input devices. According to the log it hangs the most time on 'DirectInput: not enabled' (~2min). What does this mean?

I have this problem too (most of the time, sometimes not). Can anyone explain what DirectInput is being used? Is this for IR Receivers?

Found this thread unsolved... I was having the same issue myself, then other wierd things started happening like my tv series stopped working.

Long story short, I did a clean install and the lag went away. After restoring my old tv series database the problem came back. My TV series database must have been corrupted somehow.

It was a little bit of a pain and lost all my watched data. but the problem disappeared by re-importing all my tv series data and starting from scratch. Hope this helps.

Instead of loosing watched status, you can Export (and later import) the status.

It's been a couple years, but I think the main problem I had was the X10 service was installed and running, but I had no X10 devices at the time. Preventing this service from running at windows startup sped up my MP startup.

Something similar happened to me recently. I was getting long pauses at "Loading Window Plugins". I would see the memory usage go up really high (memory leak?) and CPU usage get pegged at near 100%. By process of elimination, it turned out to be MP-TVSeries as well for me. I uninstalled MP-TVSeries and re-installed it and the problem went away and has been gone for the last week or so.

BTW, the long pause and high CPU usage used to happen when coming out from standby as well.

    Hope that helps someone.
