Cheers guys - I am a newbie at this... I was working late last night, trying to do various things... installing this version of MP was one of them...

I had several goes at installing this, but without success... I got these error messages at one stage:

MediaPortal.GUI.Video.GUIVideoFiles        \
MediaPortal.GUI.Video.GUIVideoPlaylist     |  Not loaded
MediaPortal.GUI.Video.GUIVideoTitle        /

And 'Failed to locate assembly Interop.iTunesLib,Version=1.7.0.0...', at one install attempt, and was happy to actually get the config apps working... But I got the 'no TV service' problem as above and was stuck.

Today, on another machine, I had another go at the installing disaster123's MP edition and got the same problem, AND DID NOT SEE ANY REFERENCE to the readme documents, after the install, so was really confused.

But thanks for the above tips. I will have a go at doing this...

Maybe you are the one who could add something I am really missing in regards of scheduling recordings...:
- record everytime on this channel, but only new episodes (just like 4TR does)
- record everything that has e.g. "James Bond" in the title.

I really would like to the such features in MP - but they require heavy changes especially in the DB - and then my release wouldn't be compatible with the normal MP and i don't like this idea... or somebody has another good idea.

1.) How to detect if "this" is a new episode? Any idea (with the current DB design)?
2.) How would you like to enter such titles? Via the keyboard?

i was entering this post to suggest exactly the same.

one thing i miss alot is setting a schedule that will record every program in any channel that contains a certain string of words.
this way by adding a few schedules with the following words would make me reaaaaaaally happy.
sbk, superbikes, motociclismo, doc:, discovery, motogp, rally, race.... and so on.

keyboard entry would be great !!!

is it possible?

disaster not putting pressure on you implementing this, just asking... is it possible to add this functionallity at all?

I'm just curious to understand why you do not use 4TR that has exactly this functionality

I'm a happy user of 4TR since it was called TVScheduler and it works really well for these types of recording schemes.

well simply because if it was easy to implement this i think its worth having for everyone and not only people who use 4TR.

basically to avoid to add yet another program (4therecord) although i must admit i just download it and will give it a try.

although i still think that if its easy to add this kind of schedule functionality, it would be very usefull.

I like the idea - but i really don't know how to implement this with the SMS Style keyboard - do we need other skin files? Can we use the one which is used for the normal manual recording...

the issue with this one could be that the common epg-providers (at least in germany) do not provide episode information (like numbers)....or am I missing something

that's right you need a provider / external EPG Source which provides these informations - in germany there is nobody who does that. But you can for example get these informations with the Episode Title and external programm and pages like (Fernsehserien.de - Infos, Episodenführer, TV-Termine, DVDs, Videos or Online TV Database - An open directory of television shows for HTPC software). The titles are provided by Tv-Movie and some others.

But i think there are more people outside germany which use MP.

hi disaster, please dont feel as if u have to do it, or even do it quickly. we just point it out so if you have the time and wish to, you can give it a try.

for the second issue, i think the way of introducing the text could be just hte same as when you go to tv/schedule/new/search by title

but instead of doing a search what u do is set the string to be looked for in the future for recordings.

sorry, my english is not good enough to read between the lines. have not been sure if this was a serious request for help

just run the tve setup a second time. keep tv-server selected and add the tve-plugin for mp too. you might want to export your channel config of the tvserver before - just in case.

now you should see all parts enabled in the codec tab of the mp config for tv. enter the host name of the tvserver and do the rest of the configuration. check firewall settings on the tvserver and the mp client (when it's not a single-seat installation) in order to enable the mp client to communicate with the sql-server and the tvserver. to keep troubleshooting simple it's not that bad to disable both firewalls in the first step. when everything is working as expected you should enable them.

installation of this release is not that straight forward compared to the main release 1.0, it's more like the old fashioned way of installing mp+tve. so if there are any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Always install mediaportal first and then TVServer + TVClient plugin second, this ensure's the correct TV plugin is installed.

The only way I have been able to successfully install Disaster's MP release is to uninstall MP first. Then install the version 1.0.0.0 release, then install Disaster's release on top of the original MP without uninstalling anything.

This seems to work for me, but is a little long-winded... I guess, no pain, no gain..?

Anyway, I have a problem with Disaster's release of MP... In the TV section, with the TV preview on the right, the picture stutters, as though every other frame is not displayed. The picture is as smooth as anything when viewing in full screen...

I started all over again and installed the lastest SVN 22029 release and the picture in the preview box is smooth and just as it's suppose to... So the problem is in Disaster's release..?
