External player and .ts (1 Viewer)

Hi, I'm using 1.0 RC2, working great but one issue I'm having is that
the external player, mpc-hc in my case, doesn't start with .ts files.
This behavior is the same as in the internal video section and I've read that this is
by design to not break live tv (sounds a little strange as these parts
are separately configured, but I guess there is some internal implementation
issue...)
Is this behavior in moving pictures inherited from mediaportal video-
section or can something be done about it? I know it is possible to
work around this by renaming the file, but this has the side effect that
it takes a very long time to start the film in mpc-hc, and even without
that issue it is not very attractive with the wrong extensions on media-files,
there might be other programs that won't accept transport stream files with
wrong extension.

The big question I have to ask is why bother with MPC-HC as external player? Perhaps you have some files that I haven't run into, but I use the internal player to play AVI, MKV, MOV, ISO, VIDEO_TS/VOB/NFO, TS, M2TS, MP4, and MPG files without a problem.

Chapters, multi-track audio and subtitles work as well, using MePo v1.0.2 with MPC-HC Standalone DirectShow filters and the MPC DXVA Subtitle hotfix that you can find on the forum. If I remember correctly the DXVA subtitle hotfix is now part of the MePo v1.1 SVN, but I personally prefer stable releases for MePo, so that any problems I find in MovingPictures or MP-TVSeries can be resolved easier (everything is running extremly smooth for me, so it's getting really hard to find new bugs :D).

Well, the main reason for using mpc-hc is that I've used it for a long time and it works very well
with all media. I would however prefer to use the internal player but I do have some issues that I
    need to resolve first:
    - does not play any of the .ts files I've tried, matroska files with similar video and audio codecs do
however work (a difference is that there are no blue-ray sub-titles in the mkvs, but I have selected
the mpc-hc sub-title engine in mediaportal).
As the same files play with the same codes in mpc-hc, I would guess it is a splitter problem?
    - does not play bd-iso:s (then again if I could resolve the above issue, maybe this would work, but
I don't know if the internal player supports bd playlists?)
    - I am using ffdshow audio decoder with one profile for media-portal tv that applies pass-through
for 5 and 2 channel sources and dolby encoding for 2 channel pcm sources to allow the receiver
to apply pro-logic to the 2 channel streams. Then I use another ffdshow profile for mpc-hc that
decodes all formats to multi-channel pcm to be able to take advantage of high definition formats
and also to utilize re-clock for the rendering. I haven't figured out how to accomplish the same
thing if mediaportal takes care of both tv and videos...

Any hints to how I can resolve any of the above will be appreciated! I'm using mediaportal 1.1RC
and moving pictures 1.0RC2, so I guess I should expect some problem :)

Anything that plays in the MPC-HC application, can be made to work on a DirectShow application such as MediaPortal via the MPC-HC Stand-Alone filters/splitters. So just register/install all the filters and splitters that you use and configure them via a DirectShow manage tool. Then configure MediaPortal to use those and you are good to go.

I personally play AVI, MKV, ISO, VIDEO_TS/VOB/NFO, TS, M2TS, MOV, MP4, and MPG files without any problem.

Thanks, I will try this when I install RC2 of mediaportal. But are you sure it is
possible to override TsReader in the internal player? I thought the use of this
also was hardcoded to not risk breaking live TV.
