External Player (MPC) issues (1 Viewer)

Hope someone can help on this one. I have been using MP for a while now and really love it. Here's my problem, I have set MP's configuration to use an external player, which is Media Player Classic with the K-Lite codec pack for both my movies as well as TV shows. All was been working great until I upgraded my video card to the one listed below. For some reason MP has now decided to use it's internal player for movies ripped to a VIDEO_TS. It will use MPC to open all other files. Am I missing a file association somewhere? I tried messing around with the file extension setting in MP configuration, but still no luck. Don't know what upgrading the card would have to do with anything, but that's when it all started.

BTW, I am using the latest version of Moving Pictures for movies. I'm using HDMI from the card to my TV for both audio and video.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin

Have you set MP to use MPC in the DVD configuration options also? There is a second external player setting.

I didn't have this set...didn't know it was there. I set it to use MPC as well, but still no go. Ripped DVD's in a VIDEO_TS folder still open using the internal player.

OK, no real answers on this, so let me rephrase it and see. Is there any way to disable MP's internal player so that everything (videos, TV, etc) defaults to an external player? I do like the functionality of the internal player, but my computer is a little slow and seems to work better when I use MPC.

If I check the box to use an external player everything BUT my ripped DVD's play in MPC. I would like to have them play as well.

:D

That's what I needed to do also but in the end I had to configure the internal player instead. That was quite tricky as I had to use FFDShow and specific splitters to enable Dolby TrueHD decoding. This shouldn't be a problem for you so just follow this guide for the stand alone filters installation for MP:

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-55/standalone-filters-mediaportal-saf-44614/

There is a bit down the bottom which explains how to download and use the CyberLink MPEG2 decoder which also has a DXVA facility. If you have a slow PC that sounds perfect for you to play DVD rips.

You are using MovingPictures to open the files, not MP's own video section, if thats correct then, MovPics has its own play associations and does not rely on mediaportals settings afaik.

Might be worthwhile checking in the plugin config and the forum thread about this.

It is a bug in MP that .ifo or .vob files (DVD) are not played in external player even if selected. Don't know how the plugin works though and is it using MP's internal functions. Mantis report needed.
