I bought PowerDVD 8 and would like to know if it is possible to "extract" some Codecs from PowerDVD.
I don't need the whole PowerDVD package. I only need the MPEG2 and H.264 codec for MP.
The reason why i would like to get rid of the rest of all the codecs which come with PowerDVD is that i found out that TV channel switching with MP is much faster if only a few (or better only the really needed) codecs are installed.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Jocsh

As far as i know this is not possible, cyberlink have tied there software to the decoders, thats why you cannot chooose their DVD navigator anymore.

Not sure if this is totally down to them or windows DRM, but i suspect the first :(

It shoud be possible just to install PDVD8 and then copy the filter folders to some safe place before uninstalling the software.

    C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD8\VideoFilter

Then you can manually register CL264dec.ax & CLVsd.ax and you should have Cyberlink MPEG2 and H264 video codecs available.

    Confirmed that this works.
    1. Install PDVD8. Yes you can use the trial version.
    2. Copy CLVsd.ax, CL264dec.ax, and CLaud.ax to Windows\System32.
    3. Uninstall PDVD8.
    4. Register each of the codecs. (for example run: regsvr32 CLVsd.ax)

If you want to uninstall the codecs later, run: regsvr32 -u CLVsd.ax.

Yes it works, but you need to enable DXVA in the registry. You can use these keys, took me a couple of minutes to wonder why it wasn't working!

a faster way would be to google "XXXxXXXXX" this will allow you to install latest version of PDVD codec that supports external apps.

Do i run these after registering the filters, or does these register the codecs? supports Win7 x64 and works with "every" version of PDVD Codecs?
