Hi Guys,

:sorry: been away for some time from the forum and the complete Media Portal scene.
A lot of stuff going around ;).

I will pick up your requests as soon as possible and check the complete package with the latest EMM and MP version to see that everything still is working.

Regards,

your tool is for now the best to export the moving pictures db to a html file
and why use a different movie movie manager

cuase mediaportal moving pictures and mediaportal my films creates a database
so why use another movie database program ???

for now i stick with your tool :)

Ok the exporter makes sense. But why manage your movies in a separate app? is mediaportal insufficient in this area?

My reason is that i always used EMM for years and i like it.
Mediaportal is insufficient in the sense that it, as is, doesn't lets you import from internet the plot,actors,dicrectors,ecc.....of the movies. You need to use an additional plugin.
I use Myfilms to display those infos but it needs an external app. like Ant movie catalog to create the catalog, doesn't it?
So waht i do at the moment is:
1) i add a movie to EMM importing from internet all the infos in my own language (italian) from a set of web sites( mymovies.it,35mm.it,ecc....)
2)i export an xml file for Myfilms to display the infos within Mediaportal.

I don't know very well how moving picture works, can it do the above passages?

Is moving pictures an alternative to EMM?

ok that makes sense if all you use is the built in my videos but you should check out moving pictures because its incredibly easy and does everything emm does.

the plugin Moving Pictures it basically monitors a folder for new videos. Once it detects a new movie it grabs all information from multiple internet sites(such as imdb.com)such as plot, actors, rating, directors, gets covert and fan art, then stores it in a db file for mediaportal to display. It sounds like the exact same thing, no?

Yes it's exactly what i'm doing by hand.

Just two more questions:
1)are italian sites supported?Because if it gather infos only from english sites i cannot use it!
2)if i keep my pc off, when i turn on, moving picture will re-scan my folders and if a connection is available, it downloads all thew infos?

Many thanks!

Repost that question in movingpictures but i believe answers are yes and yes.

We also have tools that output the db data into xml and html files. much like this generator.

My original intent was not to speak about moving pictures rather figure out the point of an external movie manager when all this functionality is included in mp via plugins. From what i gathered MME had a purpose at one point but not as much now(Not trying to bash MME just reasoning it out).
