"Failed to register for MCE remote button presses" ?? (1 Viewer)

I get this error when I try to enter the configuration for the MCE Replacement plugin:

"Failed to register for MCE remote button presses"

My remote is a VRC-1100 that I'm using with 0.2.3, I can only seem to use the direction arrow, volume control, OK button and the mouse pointer control. XP Pro picked up the transceiver automatically, I can't find it in the device manager to update it to a different driver. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

It's a Vista remote, so it's probably causing trouble with the access method being used by the plugin. The plugin is assuming it's an XP MCE remote because you are in Windows XP.

I'll make a change to try to accommodate this kind of remote and post it back here.

Thanks, I'll keep playing with it. Incidentaly, it works fine with my copy of SageTV, I can configure it any way I want from within the program.

Sage probably uses the HID interface, my plugin doesn't use the HID interface because I wanted to be able to register remote button presses from remote controls other than the MCE remote.

But I'm considering putting in an option to use the basic HID interface...

I've started on a HID interface plugin for IR Server Suite. But it's not finished. I'll try to finish it for the next version.

I don't have one of those remotes, but I'd love to get it working fully without resorting to the HID interface.

Maybe something for the future.

I just got the same remote off of eBay(VRC-1100) and I am having the same probems. I have been using GB-PVR's PVRX2 as my media center in the mean time till this problem is fixed. the remote seems to work with all of the buttons but the pause. I really like Media Portal better so I'm looking forward to the update to the remote will work.
