Ok... FYI: I fixed it... and I'm not proud about my solution! :) But it seems to work! :D

I've installed the MS Loopback adapter (IP: 192.168.2.123 => some IP that is not in my network!)
Then I've edited the host file and routed all my requests from my host name (MYHTPC) to that IP! :D

So my host file entry looks like this:

Code:
    127.0.0.1 localhost,
    192.168.2.123 MYHTPC
    ::1            localhost

It works even after a restart! :)

Another solution might be to unplug my machine from the network when installing MP! If I run into more issues, I'll try that as well.

Any changes I have done in the past to the server regarding ip, always involved a reboot, without that there could be problems, even with a hardwired network which I now have, but that does suffer from dropouts from my provider :(

Glad you found a solution, however unorthodox :D

BTW: After the installation, I removed the following line from the hosts file:

    Code:
    192.168.2.123 MYHTPC

And it works without any problems now (DB Server can be reached and TV server starts perfectly fine).

    Hi,
i have the same problem/error message:
    C:\Users\Reinerd\Desktop\untitled.jpg

I run a computer with windows 8 release preview used as server/single seat and another pc also W8 release preview as client.
It worked perfectly before but now this error keeps showing up and i don't know how to make it go away. Already did a complete system uninstall, I still have the error message.

I don't want to use a loopback adapter. Can someone explain the cause of this error? And does someone has a real solution?

Sorry but I can't see the picture.
Could you also please post your log files.
Please use the watchdog following the instructions for non-reproducible problems on the client:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/16_Support/3_Forums/2_Log_Files

    On the server:
    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Click "open log directory" in the top left corner.
    3. Zip up the files you find there.

Once you have the two zip files, please post them here.
