Fan Noise-Lines advise (1 Viewer)

Hi All

I'm hoping that someone would be able to give me some tips on reducing electrical interference on my Hauppauge PVR500 card. I was so excited when I bought my new server that has a lot more power, but now I'm a bit disappointed. I transferred my Hauppauge card over from my old server to the new one, and now I'm getting vertical fan-noise on the output, which I never had. Is there some tweaking that I can do, like using a software filter, which will reduce the lines on the output?

Any help will be appreciated.

why not use another fan which has less electrical interference?
Or.. create a complete fanless mediacenter pc like i did

Thanks for the feedback; do you have post where you explained how you have done that?

I also solved the problem; it wasn’t noise but heat that caused the problem. It seams that my Hauppauge PVR500 is very sensitive to heat. My new box is running Pentium-D 3.4Ghz processors, which has a very high operating temperature (50ºC-to-55ºC). I realised this when I switch the box on early in the morning and had a perfect picture for 20min after which the lines started re-appearing. Last night I installed a dedicated fan for the Hauppauge card, which has now removed the lines. I have tested it for about 2hours without any problem. The real test will come when it starts getting warmer in the months come as we start going into full summer here in SA.
