Your problem is a security problem, see this line in your log;
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Database\FanartHandler.org' is denied.

Hi ysmp,

Very nice collection but as 2BitSculptor say. The name should be without the trailing numbers according to htbackdrop naming. If possible you should change on htbackdrops.

just to repeat myself (from an earlier edit)


Registered users of HTBackdrops can edit or delete their own submissions.

- Go to HTBackdrops
- make sure you're signed in
- find an image you submitted.
- click on your name (in parentheses)
- select view all images submitted by you
- select an image to edit/delete (I usually open it in another tab so I don't lose my spot)
- under the image there are options to edit or delete the image.

tag is not working for me. simply does nothing to change background. is this tag not allowed in mymusicsongs.xml? i replaced it with the same code except the .play version for the now playing artist and it worked fine.... what am i missing?

It's my understanding that MyMusicSongs (shares) doesn't pull the artist name from the music db, so it wouldn't be exposed to the fanart handler plugin, ... selected titles would have no effect.

Any idea whether this will be possible in the future? All my tags are in order (I think), but I still prefer the shares view. Especially for mix albums I don't like the database option. I have artist in it who do 50 seconds of music in one album, but it's still shows as a seperate artist in the database. I have music divided into let's say 50 artists, but using the database option there's a tenfold of that.

Then you'dhave the same problem (or at least I would). In my case it should read, but I guess that's near to impossible, the folder name for the artist or the folder name for the album (although the tag could suffice for that).

You could just do a db scan of your music shares. Let the fanart handler scrape for the artists. If all the songs are tagged properly (and there is fanart available), then at least the fanart will be there. If you should build playlists from shares view, I think the artist info will be available then.

Tested 1.1 RC1

Everything works great! I no longer have issues with fanart sometimes not appearing when browsing the playlist. Aspect ratio restriction works correctly too. There was one situation when the fanart stopped appearing, not sure what I did to cause this. Quiting + restarting mediaportal didn't seem to fix it. Then I restarted the computer and the fanart started to appear again, so not sure whether it was a crash or what happened exactly.

I just want to thank you again for the fantastic plugin, I have some further suggestions, these are just my ideas so I hope I don't annoy you by telling you them. This is what I would do if I was able to develop a plugin (I don't have the skills).

Suggestion - Change the minimun resolution settings

If I look at my MP Artist thumbs directory the common resolutions are;
300-400 x 500-600
400-500 x 600
500 x 350-400
500-600 x 600
600 x 350-400
600 x 400-450
600 x 450-500
600 x 500-550
600 x 600


There are no artist images with L suffix that are <200x200 in the MP Artist directory, so this 200x200 is redundant.


The current choices are;
0x0 / 200x200 / 400x400 / 640x360 / 960x540 / 1024x576 / 1280x720 / 1920x1080


I think it should be changed to;
0x0 / 300x300 / 350x350 / 400x400 / 500x500 / 960x540 / 1280x720 / 1920x1080

If you also had an AR restriction of >1.3, you'd get the following
0x0 / 390x300 / 455x350 / 520x400 / 650x500 / 960x540 / 1280x720 / 1920x1080

If you had AR>1.55, you'd get the following
0x0 / 465x300 / 542x350 / 640x400 / 775x500 / 960x540 / 1280x720 / 1920x1080

If you had AR>1.75, you'd get the following
0x0 / 525x300 / 612x350 / 700x400 / 875x500 / 960x540 / 1280x720 / 1920x1080

The user could possibly have the option to alter the AR restriction, but I think that 1.3 or 1.4 is probably a good default value (Personally I'd prefer 1.3). It may make things too complicated for the user to be able to change the AR ratio limit, however if it was selectable I would suggest 1.0 / 1.3 / 1.4 / 1.55 / 1.75

thanks cul8er for this great plugin, works really fine.

I've started to modifie my BasicHomeScreen, now it shows different fanArts and when music is playing it show the Artist Backdrop.

I have 2 questions:

1. Is there an option to use the Movingpictures Backdrop for the current playing Video File ?
something like this: #fanarthandler.movingpicture.backdrop1.play ?

2. Is it possible to create your own folder in the //Skin FanArt Folder?
Example: New Folder: "Info_Menu" --> <imagepath>Info_Menu</imagepath> ?

I don't know why but the Scraper is not working for me (I have activated automatic download).
How can I solve this problem?
