Hi.

are there any known problems with fanart when having the movie information within NFO files and not in the myVidoes database?

Here I have the problem that sometimes the fanart is not updated when scrolling thru the video list. Sometimes you have to wait about 10 seconds until the correct fanart is displayed.

Regards
grubi.

are you using shares view? in shares view it would have to scan the nfo files before being able to work out what to display. Ideally you should use database view as the information has already been pre-scanned.

Yes I 'm using share view.
There is no need to scan the nfo files.
The current myVideos is able to grab the info directly from the nfo + cover + fanart files without the need to have it in the database at all.
    See wiki for details: link

    titlefolder
    - Movie.avi
    - titlefolder-fanart.jpg

I have one folder per movie, and there I have a fanart.jpg, folder.jpg and movie.nfo for the movie.
It works so far, the only thing is that the fanart is displayed with a delay of about 10 to 20 seconds after selecting the movie.
When making a scan to import everything into the db it works as expected.

    Cheers.

What I am saying though database is probably faster...

grabbing the info from the file is the same as scanning the file.

Yes, as Deda said me, a long time ago, MP need to read in folder and FanartHandler use it.
@Deda : we can reduce the time ?
my old ask, was to have info movie on folder. but many rework inside MP core ....

Maybe this is some kind of timing issue, when the info is not stored in the db.

I doubt it is only a speed issue. 20 sec for loading a fanart is far to long, the cover which is also loaded from share just needs a fraction of a second.

It is also strange that if you select an entry which has a fanart and wait long enogh it is displayed. If you then select an entry which has no fan art the previous fan art picture is not getting removed. If everything is in database this also seems to work correct.

    Cheers.

    20 sec for you ? only 2 -3 sec for me !!!

So there must be something different between our setups.
Where are your files located. Local HD or NAS?
Which version of FanArt Handler are you using?

    THX.
