Hello guys,

I just setup my new HTPC hardware (some information above, I'll update of course) and I've installed:
- Win XP SP2
- codecs following this guide MediaPortal - Mediacenter - - simple mediaportal codec guide
- Media Portal 1.0 RC4

Now, I face the following problem:
- when playing Divx/XVid or MKV file and I try to fast forward (e.g 2x) the screen just freeze and the only solution is to kill MediaPortal from the TaskManager
- fast forward on playing a DVD (or a ISO mounted file) works OK, with no problems

Any clue on this? Should I use other codecs?

Thanks in advance,

Catalin

hello guys,

I find the solution. At this step of installation:

- codecs following this guide MediaPortal - Mediacenter - - simple mediaportal codec guide

I've just skipped the paragraph at page 5 about:

Code:
There is currently an issue regarding subtitle handling in the ogg media container .ogm. The issue
presents itself as Mediaportal saying the subtitles are enabled but not actually displaying them.
The following workaround was kindly suggested by Peterk2007. Thanks!
In ffdshow video configuration, select subtitles and remove ticks from the following boxes in the right
hand pane: Subtitles, Accept embedded subtitles, Accept SSA, ASS …

And let the subtitles configuration as is.

Now, it works.
