Is it possible to add a feature to detect duplicates (same file name, size, media info, different path) and ignore?

Why?

laptop when at home has access to server with all content (mapped drive marked as removable - so plugin remembers it) when travelling, I copy some episode to laptop - now - when media scan runs - I get two entries for the same episode - would like to not display the duplicates - perhaps try all possible in sequence when you try to play - or just something like "don't display duplicate if found on local and removable media".

There is the option "keep reference to files that are not available", which you could turn off.

Agree, but if I do that then there when the laptop is back "Home" it goes through the detection again, and I have to cycle banners to get the ones I want back - and then - I get duplicates, because I have local content.

Part of my problem is that I have a holiday home with no internet, so I take the laptop, and hook it up to the TV there, so I want banners etc. but I can;t (at that time refresh them), hence the request for the feature.

Realise that my particular case might be specific to me, but I can imagine other scenarios with file stores, possible in shared houses etc. where duplicates might exist so think it may be useful for others.

    duplicate files

There were some programmes for XP to find duplicate files. I used to delete music duplicate file I used the programme Clone Remover for such aim. It helped me. And not only for music files. For pictures, music and a lot of others. Now it is more free place on my PC :)
    Good luck!
