VNC is the way to go with configuration, I also have HTPC's in my house (3 to be exact) and I rarely log in to change settings... can't wait until the server/client is implemented in Mediaportal 2 so that we can set it on the server and have the clients call home so to speak.

As an alternative to VNC, the builtin Windows Remote Desktop also works very well. But sometimes for htpc you have to connect a keyboard/mouse, esp when things go wrong :)

Athe auto pair already exists in MP, e.g. if you have "movie cd1.avi" and "movie cd2.avi" they will be paired. If you mean pairing "Star Wars 1" and "Star Wars 2", i.e. different movies, then I believe there is already some work in progress to link movies in a series together. This information is available thru themoviedb but I think not their API, so its not automated yet. Look at -

Issue 229 - moving-pictures - Allow grouping of movies in the movie list - Project Hosting on Google Code

You are correct that auto pairing is allready in place, but in my experience, it does not work if you import the movies when mediaportal is running. If we take "movie cd1.avi", and "movie cd2.avi", they will be autopaired if you copy/rip/download or whatever onto your import folder, THEN start mediaportal.

If mediaportal is allready running though, it will match the first disc that is copied/downloaded/ripped onto the import folder as the movie in question, then when disc 2 is downloaded or copied, it will be matched again as the same movie because it cannot find the other disc (that is allready imported).

If this issue could be coded around im not sure, but its annoying if you have your mediaportal system running all the time, and not only when actually using it :)
