I have Cyberink in both Television and Video session of MP config, but sometimes I noticed that ffdshow is choosen.
And this is giving two issues: some video are upside-down the odd runs ( first, third and so on ) and sharpness is not as it should.

Any idea on how to avoid this to happen ?

Thats the "Flip video" option under output, seems a wrong move with the MCE remote (or others) causes this to enable.

A real pain, as never found a remote option to reverse it.

Funny thing. I also had this "issue" along with the old TsFileSource.ax. I didn't even notice it because the picture quality was great. As I moved to the new TsReader.ax the picture quality went from  to . After running some tests I noticed that ffdshow was used before though not being selected as codec (I didn't notice this earlier because I always run MediaPortal fullscreen so I cannot see the tray-icons). So I configured ffdshow to do post-processing for TV-mode and picture quality went back to .
Also be aware which filetypes you select for "always decode with ffdshow" during ffdshow setup.

    Maybe this experience helps you.

@PD: You might want to remap this button if it bothers you. Try EventGhost for this, nice application ;)

    level20peon,

putting ffdshow as a post-processing would avoid using it as decoder ?
Isn't the best choice to use none as always decode with during ffdshow setup ?

Not at all. I just added it because it wasn't used anymore after TsReader.ax was implemented. Because of incompatibility of some formats I have to use Dscaler as primary filter, so I use ffdshow as a post-processing filter.

This part of my story was refering to your sharpness issue (In my case [dscaler only] = blurry image... [dscaler + ffdshow] = sharp picture)

Kind of. I left the checkboxes for avi files activated because I decode video files with ffdshow per default. If you deactivate all boxes ffdshow won't be used at all unless you explicitly configure it to be used. But this sounds like you don't want to use ffdshow at all (Maybe uninstalling is an option then :)).

I want to use it only as post-processing not as primary filter...but it seems that even using Cyberlink on all MP settings, it is used sometimes.
I removed it and installed it back without any check on extension, but same behaviour...

MediaPlayer is not using it so it's for sure not the only codec available for this video format...
