Thanks for that.

I double clicked on the "TV-Server Configuration" on the desktop and a window appeared that required a username and password. There was a "Test" button at the bottom. What username and password should I use? Should I create one or use my windows password or perhaps another password I may have created?

I assume that I would use Microsoft SQl SErver 2005 as I am using Windows XP. Is that correct?
However, this may not be the case as the info in the window states:
Hostname: Richardxp\SPLEXPRESS
Dependency: SPL Browswer
Schema name: MpTvDb

These are editable and could be changed.

I am not sure if I should change these settings?

The installer sets up SQL Database for you.
It tells you to enter the password "MediaPortal"
User name is what ever is entered in by default

So all you do is type MediaPortal in the password field (NOTE The capitalisation)
Then hit test then hit save

sa is name, MediaPortal is password, and it is case sensitive, so capital M&P

I did that and a message came up that said something like “your TV server is not running and would you like to start it now.” I clicked "Yes" and the following message came up.

"Microsoft SI/PSI parser outdated!
Your version 6.5.2600.5512 of Psisdecd.dll has too many bugs!
Please check our Wiki's requirements page."

I just bought the computer new so I thought the Microsoft Software would be up to date.

I have Microsoft Windows Home Edition version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234 : Service Pack 3).

Do I have to install something else?

i bet you are running xp, did you even install dvbfix?

I said to install the DVDfix. I also provided a link to it in the above post.

It makes it difficult to help if you dont follow the information provided.

When the error occurred, MP directed you to check the wiki section on requirements:

Required updates and hotfixes

Only for XP / MCE2005

BDA/DVB hotfix

This hotfix is essential for viewing digital TV broadcasts.

It is already included in roll up 2 of Windows MCE 2005, for Windows XP you have to install

it manually. [Updated psisdecd.dll]

Hi

I downloaded and tried to install the patch as described at https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ner-issue-channel-scan-crash-windows-xp-6344/ and I followed the instructions after reading the above page.

When I clicked on "runme.bat" a message indicated that it worked. However, on the restart. I could not get into Windows. I had a black screen and the following message
“Remove disks or other media
Press any key to restart”

When I pressed any key the message just came up again below.

I could get into the BIOS where it stated:
“Legacy Diskette A Not detected
Primary IDE slave Not detected”

Do you know why this happened?
It appeared as though it may have been due to the software and the "runme.bat" file that I ran as it happened straight after this. I have not seen the message before.

Is there are way I could uninstall the file or fix the problem in the BIOS?

There are plenty of comments on the error message as can be found on Google. However, the ones I saw did not appear to apply to my situation because I think it was due to the file that I installed.
