"First Light" - It's a term used by amateur astronomers when they aim a new telescope at the sky for the first time. Tonight, I connected my HTPC (with Media Portal 1.01) to my A/V receiver for the first time. I've got 225 movies, Band of Brothers, News Radio, A&E's Horatio Hornblower, and the complete set of the Monte Python's Flying Circus TV show on it.

No more trudging back and forth to the media cabinet and craning my neck to read DVD case labels. Right now, I'm watching The Patriot. It is truly awesome.

I still have to put all of our music and about 60 more movies on the box, but for now, I'm cooking with gas!

Congratulations on your first light!

It was more or less exactly the same point (boxing up the cds and dvds and moving them out of the living room) that convinced us to go to an HTPC with large storage. Very liberating.
