    Hi,

The ATi9550 card works nicely here. I'm using the DVI output from my 9550 to connect to my LCD-TV and are running in 1360x768. I do use the Omega drivers though instead of Catalyst drivers, but they should work equally well (they're basically the same anyway).

    Kind regards,
    Michel

Thanks for the reply. I was able to get directx acceleration working. What I did was uninstall all ATI components, then reboot. The 'Windows found new hardware' message and then I used the supplied cd and install the whole shooting match (control center, drivers, basically everything it wanted except for a game demo). Now when I go into dxdiag the three unavailable are now enabled.

Unfortunately my fast forwarding and rewinding problem presists. I guess I'll have to make a seperate post for that one.

    Thanks for the tips...

This isnt a graphics card issue or a DX driver issue, it's an MP problem. What happens is it tries to run the program too soon. I get the same issue sometimes. if you ctrl alt del out of it, and then run it again, it will be fine. I think there needs to be a delay built in to mp so it fires up AFTER woindows has loaded all drivers and services

    any comment by the developers?

im having the same problem, so it seems to be a known issue. still with 0.2.2.0 the is no improvement. every time i restart my computer i have to kill mp by strgaltentf and restart mp to get it working. this is an annoying situation.
i have already put mp into the autostart folder and am not longer starting it by the settings in setup. still mp starts too early.

is there any known solution to this problem?
is there a possibilty to alter the order of starting drivers and programs in windows?
is this problem known and addressed by the devs?

    00:11 < [-yfni-]> I've got a solution for this problem:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ml?highlight=warning+nothing+will+be+rendered
00:16 < [-yfni-]> download wait100.zip ( http://www.wcscnet.com/Freeware.htm ). Create a batch file (.bat). You need only two lines. 1st line has to be something like:
wait.exe [number of seconds]. and with the 2nd line you start mediaportal :]. After you're finished creating the batch file, add it to your startup.
00:17 < [-yfni-]> I've got no forum account and its late already but feel free to post it if you do have the time ;p
    00:18 < [-yfni-]> I've had this problem on 2 different computers (even different procs & nvid/ati).
00:18 < [-yfni-]> so must be something that happens quite often...

    My 2 Cents:

I see this problem as well in my 0.2.2 installation on a dell laptop with a wxga
display. I have a second known problem on this laptop in that if I have
'exclusive directx mode' enabled in the general options I am unable to see
video display fullscreen(only in the thumbnail window). So, I have it disabled
currently. This begets the the 'rendering' problem message if I restart
the machine with either the 'start MP on windows startup' option ticked
in the general options or if I have MP in my startup folder. If I enable
'exclusive directx mode' this startup problem goes away, but then of
course I can't see movies fullscreen. (By the way, dxdiag runs clean
on this machine..). I have cygwin installed on my laptop, so if I startup
without 'exclusive directx mode' enabled and a 'sleep 5' things are
apparently delayed long enough for the windows software rendering
interface to come up(I'm assuming the problem is with the software
rendering interface coming up not directx as startup works on this
machine with 'exclusive directx mode' enabled..) and MP starts fine
and I can play fullscreen videos. My display performance is fine
as this is a relatively new laptop even with 'exclusive directx mode' enabled.

I have a couple other laptops and a couple desktops around the house
also with MP installed but with standard(non-wxga) displays and I have
neither the fullscreen video problem nor the startup rendering problem.

I noticed when I had this error, that it was my antivirus messing it up (trendmicro Internet security pro 2008). If I would disable it, then load up mediaportal, it would start fine. I could then enable my security again, and then it would load up fine any time after that. When I would reboot, the program would mess up again, until trend was disabled again, mp restarted and trend restarted. Not sure why, but that's what did it for me. I will look into it further and let you know if anything comes of it.
