Focus using remote not working correctly. (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am not able to get MP to focus with the remote using MS remote on Windows 8 after using any other applications on the other screen.

The icon in the task bar is flashing orange, but MP only gets focus when I actually click (or press) on the icon and not with the Windows button on the remote.

This was similar but not as bad in Windows 7 as I recall, and only became a problem with the latest version of MP.

Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know how to solve it?

I have created a branch with a possible fix
It's based on 1.5.0 Pre Release, do you want to test it ?

I have 3 other MP clients. Would they be OK left running the 1.4.0 release? I don't mind trying it out anyway.

you need only one PC for the test but if you update the tvserver then 1.4.0 need to be upgraded too.

I installed the build and tried to gain focus. Same issue.

Logs attached (not sure what, if anything, they will tell you).

In the logged period I:

Started MP in debug mode - MP has focus.
Went to guide and moved around using remote.
Went to a previously running office application from task bar.
Moved the cursor in that with remote.
Used Home button on remote.
No Foucs.
Gained focus using taskbar icon.
Exited using remote.

Hi Chris,
I just has the time to try it before going back to work and i can't reproduce the issue
When i use home button (Green from my MCE remote control) focus is back and can move around in TV Guide.
I will look again your log but don't know why it failed.

Hi Sebastiii,

One thing, I am using the windows Vista or later IR receiver (White Cylinder with a black top) rather than the one which came with the remote (flat black thing). I could try the original one and see if this is the variable causing the issue. I swapped them so that an old XP machine could use a MS remote as well but now everything is on Windows 8.

I will let you know if this changes anything.

I also have an MP client which does not get focus if MP auto loads with startup (the task bar showas and keeps focus). This is using a radio remote where I have no use of the Green button so is a different issue and I haven't had time to play around with the hite taskbar in full screen option.

I have the same IR Receiver on my Win8 Dev PC so i'm not sure it come from that but i could be wrong lol.
Like you test by starting debug mode, it's not related to third party plugins.

If you stay on this release i can supply you a bin forced thing and see if it's better, will try to do that asap
