Fontsize with auto startup of MP (1 Viewer)

All,

When using to startup MP automatically, either through MP's configuration, or through the Windows startup folder, the font size of the text in the buttons in the skins is too large. This means the text "TV" is bigger than the graphic box where it is supposed to fit in. When I startup manually after Windows has loaded, fonts are OK and fit within the graphic boxes.
Adding a startup delay in MP configuration does not work either - only manual startup solves this.

I'm using MP 1.1 RC4, Windows 7 Ultimate on an i5 based PC. Note to add, is that I use a solid state disk in my PC to boot from, it also includes MP executables.

Does this relate to the use of a solid state disk? Could it be that MP is loaded too fast?
Anyone had this problem?

Hi!

I had the same problem with win 7. Here is, what helped me.

Don't let MP start automatically and don't put it in autostart folder!

BUT you can start it automatically via the taskplanner (in german it's called "Aufgabenplaner"). There you can create a Task that runs everytime windows is startet. You just have to put a little delay, like 5 secs... if the delay is too short, the fonts in MP will be displayed too big....

This is prolly windows bug more than MP bug. Do you have in Control Panel -> Display chosen some other font size than 100% ? Maybe that information is not available to application until everything has started properly so items in startup folder might start too early in the boot process.

Hello tontsa,

Tried to switch back to fontsize 100% - good results. I had set it to "Custom" (200%). If I switch to one of the pre-selectable font sizes it seemed to work, though it does appear to me that a font size of 150% works, albeit the font-to-box ratio seems awkward.

Ok... now MP works again, I end up with barely invisible fonts, which by itself is not bad, but it also means that IE has hard to read information as well. Every now and then I use my HTPC for internet browsing as well. I would like to return to 200%.

How do I report this "feature" of Windows 7 to MS?

If it's just for browsing then most browsers have adjustable zooming. On Firefox it's under View->Zoom. That should actually work better for you since it also scales other page elements too.
